- He's 7th (2nd off the bench) in the rotation so he'll play 20-25 minutes per game

- 2 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist so far. Both offensive rebounds

- Just got another rebound on defense

- He's not playing Jokic on D, he was playing Porter Jr but has been switching up.

- Jazz up by 7 in 1st but I doubt that lasts.

Kessler looks like he belongs. It's only one half but he's going to be a really good NBA player. The Nuggets front court is legit. He was playing with the other 4 starters in place of Olynyk the Gonzaga veteran in the 2nd quarter. His stat line at the half is:

5 points/6 rebounds/1 assist, +7 in productivity points

Jazz 75 Nuggets 53 (not a typo) Halftime

Yeah he belongs, relied way too much on non-nba guards last year. Shame

Kessler final stat line vs. Nuggets:

- 12 points/10 rebounds/1 assist/1 steal, +12 in productivity points

- 24 minutes, first rookie in Jazz history to have a double-double in their debut

Jazz 123 Nuggets 102

Jabari played 32 min and put up 17 points, 7 reb, 1 ast on 6/17 shooting and 3/11 from 3

Not much scoring from our other guys:

Chuma - 2 points, 4 reb, 1 ast, 0/3 FG, 17 min

Thor - 1 reb, 0/1 FG, 8 min

Okoro - 0/1 FG, 11 min… that’s it aside from 4 fouls, maybe so maybe those were early fouls that limited him

Watched someone break down his preseason play and they said he’s cleaned some things up offensively too. When he’s getting the ball in the paint he’s using his length and keeping it up versus trying to get a dribble in. Game changer for him

It was noticeable last night. He also had one reverse lay-up matched up against Kokic where he went under the basket to avoid the block. I remember thinking 'where the hell did that come from?'. Hardy is also running some offense through Kessler because he passes so well out of the post. Gobert really struggled with that. Maybe the Jazz won't be as awful as I thought. The Jazz shot 38 threes last night (16/38).

That would drive me nuts…. All big men should keep the ball high and go up quick… don’t give the defense time and the guards an opportunity to swipe.

Really proud of Kessler for his performance yesterday

Looks like he'll be a stud for the Jazz

Agree. If this wasn't simply 'beginner's luck' he could be the next Auburn great.

Sucks for UNC to have lost him, but meh, they've had their fair share of greats. Looking at you, MJ.

Big daddy Walker has a huge test tonight. Going up against the T'wolves team that traded him and two of the best bigs in the NBA in KAT and Gobert

Jabari going on the road to Memphis

Cavs need to play Okoro over Levert

LeVert is definitely a more consistent offensive threat right now than Okoro, both scoring and for sure facilitating. But LeVert would also make a good 6th man to come off the bench and be a sparkplug, while Okoro would be nice to have lineup defensively against the opposing team's best backcourt player and stifle them out the gates

Yeah and with Mitchell/Garland backcourt the perimeter defense is more of a need than the scoring punch. Levert is a traffic cone out there

I forget where, but I read an article that Okoro has been working on his shot for a couple of years now. The angle of his shot was flat (38 degrees) and his hand placement on the ball caused him to cross his face when he shot. So he'd been missing on the angle, but also left and right as well. IIRC 45 degrees from the article is the goal and he's becoming fairly consistent, and he's also changed his hand placement on the ball. Works on it everyday. I hope it works out for him because everyone in the Cav org that was quoted in the article loves how hard he works and how conscientious Okoro is.

Jazz 132 T-Wolves 126 F/OT

Solid night for Kessler. He didn't play at all in the 4th quarter or overtime or I think his numbers would have been similar to the first game.

18 Minutes/6 points/5 Rebounds/2 Assists/4 Blocks

Gobert is a vacuum cleaner on the glass. I wish the Jazz would have kept him.

10 points/24 Rebounds (10 Offensive)/2 Blocks

(edit) I meant that I wish the Jazz somehow could have kept Gobert and still had Kessler as well.

Timberwolves got a hard lesson on his FT shooting tonight though.

Yep. Hard to justify his price tag with the offensive struggles. Defensively he’s in a league of his own though.
