Quote from Jaylen Moody's high school coach. Ouch.

quote:

That made no sense to me,” Mabry said. “I know they love Deontae Lawson, but Moody is the best inside linebacker on that team. He is the guy that will strike your cap and your butt. What they have done with him is absolutely an atrocity. He is one of my guys, but I don’t understand what the team is doing. 10 [Henry To’oto’o] ain’t the one. I don’t know how many games we need to watch, these big games where he gets small, but for him to get on and talk afterward on the news talking about we are coming back? No son. Bro, you could do it and have not gotten it done. My thing is the standard is not there because the coaches are not making the standard the way it’s supposed to be. They are showing too much preferential treatment to players. When you bring a kid in, and I am not picking on this kid specifically, but any transfer that comes in they don’t know the standard. They do not know the standard. They come in and get a starting position at Alabama at inside linebacker and never be in pads? You were promised the job. This is indicative of what’s going on in the program. I know I have a kid there right now, but I will be upfront with you. I will share some information. He went in on Sunday and went off on Golding. He said ‘we need M’Fers on the team, and I am one of them. When it comes down to it, the coaching staff has a personnel issue and they don’t have guts. When you hype a kid up and he’s not performing, there is a good place for him called the bench. When he can go out there and play whether he is a poor performer or not, guess what we got, a poor performance. This is not the first poor performance. There are kids on the sideline that need to be in the game, but this is not making sense to me.”

If a true quote, I can’t disagree with 90% of it. HTT has not held the standard of what a Bama LB is/was. I do disagree with throwing Lawson in the mix, because he is young and cutting his teeth.

I've been saying this for YEARS.

HORRIBLE personnel decisions and it has nothing to do with transfers.

In 2015, 3 games into the season, Saban thought Cooper Bateman would be better than Coker and we dropped a game bc of that.

The list of poor decisons on personnel is a mile long. Fortunately when you recruit as well as we do, even a bad decision works out

I mean, everyone has their opinion. It kind of sounds like he's just upset that his former player isn't getting a lot of playing time. I don't think that Lawson or Too'Too are the problems with our defense.

10000000000% agree. Guarantee he wouldn't have had any issues with anxiety.

I don't know much of the Xs Os .. I just want to see a RB not drag and LB and Safety 6 yards after contact
I presume that has to do with equal parts technique and attitude

I don't think HTT was responsible for DBs squatting on underneath routes, getting run past, and continuing to squat on underneath routes like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football, but he has really only had like 2 or 3 games where he had a major positive impact on the game during his time here. After it being an annual thing for several years we haven't really had an ILB who made his presence felt in every game since Reuben though. We have had some good players since then, but no true alpha dog like Rolando, Hightower, Mosley, Ragland, or Reuben. Nakobe Dean was supposed to be that guy, and would have been, until a red and black duffel bag full of cash showed up on his front porch at 3am on signing day.

Henry & Moody together are pretty good.

I will say this though...Lawson was not good at all vs Tennessee because he's to stiff. Moody would of made way more plays then Lawson so if he jumped down Goldings throat because of that then I'M PROUD OF HIM.

I hate takes like this.

He was cleared against Tennessee, but I don't think he was "quite" ready to play... he probably was held out of precautionary.

Hard to argue with much of that..

I'll add one thing to it though, the lack of adjustments of both personnel and scheme in the second half was pathetic. The same players and schemes kept getting smoked arse the coaches did nothing about it.

I can't see a player just coming off an injury where he was still pissing blood going into game week being that vocal about playing. Maybe he did talk to the coach and push for more playing time going forwards, but I doubt it was quite like his high school coach portrayed. I don't know, could have happened, I guess.

I've been saying this for years.

First of all about the lack of an alpha ILB for years that's not true. We had one he simply fell victim to exactly what this guy is saying- Drew Sanders was an ILB all the way, but our dipshit coaches let him rot on the bench stuck in logjam at OLB, and now he's playing All American level football for Arkansas at ILB. fricking idiots.

The Saban that came in and had his 08 class starting in front of every upperclassman on the team doesn't exist anymore.

There was a standard back then, and if you didnt perform you were replaced. Saban hasn't been like that in years.

It was only when all hope was lost in the '17 title game that they finally turned to all the younger players to save their arse and guess what ? They totally bailed us out.

The fricking debacle at Center on the OL for TWO frickING YEARS so we dont hurt an upperclassmans feelings. It all reeks of weakness.

Saban has never promised a player a starting job. Ever
