Avon (Ind.) four-star defensive end Montez Robinson committed to Auburn in September after an official visit to the Plains for the LSU game.

The 6-foot-5, 235-pounder said at the time he still planned to take official visits to Alabama and Georgia. He visited Tuscaloosa a few weeks later, returned still solid to the Tigers.

But Robinson admits, after Auburn's recent struggles, he's taking a longer look at the other two SEC schools, particularly the Tide.

"I'm still a verbal to Auburn. I'm still cool with them, but I'm still looking around," said Robinson. "I'm probably looking around a little more now than I was before."

Robinson said he's been in contact with Auburn recruiter Greg Knox as well as Tide recruiter Bobby Williams and head coach Nick Saban.

"I talked to coach Knox last week. He was just asking how everything was going," said Robinson. "Coach Williams from Alabama called me this week. They are coming up here Friday to watch my game."

Alabama, Robinson said, isn't making it easy for him.

Robinson has at least one more official visit planned, this one to UGA the last weekend of November.
"Alabama is recruiting me heavily right now," said Robinson. "I have a good relationship with coach Saban and coach Williams. We're always talking. They are always saying they could use me.

"They said they appreciate the opportunity to stay in the race. I told them I'm still considering them and looking hard into their school."

Robinson will also visit Georgia Nov. 28-30. The Tide and Bulldogs, he said, remain in contention.

"I'm keeping those options open, talking to my coaches, checking their rosters and everything," he said. "I'm still committed to Auburn, but definitely looking around a little bit more."

Robinson and Avon (8-2) will travel to Southport Friday night for the second-round of the Sectionals. Going into the game, Robinson had amassed 59 tackles, 41 solos, 13 tackles-for-loss, six sacks, 17 quarterback pressures, one pass breakup, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Rivals.com rates Robinson the No. 8 strongside defensive end in the country and No. 8 overall recruit in Indiana

He's still a lock for Auburn. He knows they will take him to the next level and Bama won't.

so what...if he wants to go to Alabama, then Alabama is where he should be....if he wants to go to Auburn, then Auburn is where he should be, and so on -

I think he'd rather go UP to the next level, rather than down.

In all seriousness though. He said 3 times that he's still an Auburn commitment. He'll be on the plains more than likely in the future. He's just looking for a little bit more love from the media and fans is all.

Right...the next level of hell maybe.

I'm sure it's every players dream to get booed off the field and play in half full stadiums.

He might get his 5th star for considering us but if he signs with AU instead of Bama, he'll drop to a 3 star.

It depends on whether or not he wants a shot at a NC or a shot at a streak, up to him I guess.

He is probably just trying to get Auburn to pay him more than their initial offer.

Ha ha ha... Bama has been relevant in the NC race once in 28 years? Au about 4 times? 1983, 1988 (1 point away from the NC game against ND), 1993 perfect season, 2004 perfect season. The Tadd has been relevant once in 28 years and is hardly ever in the discussion.

He is probably just trying to get Auburn to pay him more than their initial offer.

No comment required. Bama will be back on probation in a few years.

You have lost your ability to reason if you think that a defensive player on a Saban coached team will have a lower chance of making it to the NFL than at Auburn.

With Fulmer on his way out, he will have more time with his plan to bring down the bammers.

Saban and Alabama alone could pull the auto industry out of their problems.

Tiger,

I like you and all, but c'mon. Even you know what you are saying is bogus right? If we are talking about being in the discussion, or as you put it, a point or two away, or a game or two away, or if we are being discussed in the NC picture conversation in November your statement is bogus.

In 28 years, Bama has been in the discussion for the NC at least 4 times. 1989-At least until we blew it at AU, 1992-We won, 1994-Lost by 1 point to Spurrier in SECCG, 2005-Ranked 3rd before LSU took our heart and AU stomped on it.

Now if we are talking about being relevant, I would say any team that wins 10 games, its division or conference makes it relevant.

In 28 years Bama has been, based on my above criteria relevant 10 times (Not including this year). 1980- 10-2, 1986- 10-3, 1989- 10-2 SEC Champion, 1991- 11-1, 1992- 13-0 SEC Champion, National Champion, 1994- 12-1 SEC West Champion, 1996- 10-3 SEC West Champion, 1999- 10-3 SEC Champion, 2002- 10-3, 2005- 10-2. There are also 4 other seasons where we won 9 games (1981, 1985, 1988, 1993). I would say that is being pretty relevant in the last 28 years.

In the same time frame, AU has had 8 10-win seasons, 4 SEC Titles (Thanks Pat Dye. Really great coach), and 2 SEC West Titles.

Only UGA with 11, UT with 11, and UF with 10, have as many or more 10-win seasons than Bama.

Now if you want to discuss Bama's relevance since Stallings left? That's fine. Bama still has 3 10-win seasons and 1 SEC Title, though. AU has 3 10-win seasons and 1 SEC Title during that time frame. Bama has been terrible against AU at 3-8 since then though, but that doesn't make us irrelevant.
