I get all the complaints and such. But for me this game will always be remembered as the game the refs practically intervened to control the outcome of the game. You can't ignore Bama 17-130 Tenn 6-39. The hits of our QB that went uncalled. The obvious targeting that was over ruled. The Tenn players calling for flags, and getting them, several seconds after the play was over. The refs throwing flags after they saw the outcome of the play favored us. etc, etc.....The refs were caught us in the "Beat Bama mentality" and it showed in they way they called this game. We should have won anyway, but they refs were gonna make sure it went the Vols way.

I’ll never understand that last PI call. There was no flag until super late in that play. Like you said, throwing flags after the fact cuz that was game over

I don’t like to blame the refs but damn, that crew was going after us and letting Tennessee get away with a lot.

I can accept losing if you just get plain beat by the better team. And I can accept a lot of the penalties was justified, false start, offsides, delay off game. But critical penalties like pass interference when the ball was deflected and intercepted in the end zone and ran to the 40. That would have basically sealed the game.
Targeting on BY…. Even the Tennessee fans knew it was targeting
It was 4th and 1 or 2, Tennessee has the ball, goes for it… Bama stops them and after the play was over ref’s throw a flag on Tennessee for false start and gives them another shot at it
I can accept losing and It’s done and over, but anyone that watched that game will never convince me that the refs called a fair game.

It reminded me of that 2003 NCG when Miami got the incompletion in the end zone to seal the game, and suddenly a last second flag for PI. Ohio State tied the game and won in OT.

Yeah Refs sucked but they didn’t fumble a punt or let one guy get 5 TDs so they certainly didn’t help but this arse whooping has been coming for awhile.

You don't know that just because the TV crew didn't see it and say anything. That doesn't mean shite. Have you seen a clip showing when the flag game out of his pocket? frick no you haven't. Moore had his arm wrapped around his fricking waist. If it had been a Bama receiver, you'd have been screaming for a flag, and you fricking know it.

Are you really this fricking stupid? This never happened. Show us a fricking clip of the flag coming out of the ref's pocket after the whistle.

I was at the game and looked around the goal line for a flag during the interception return. Could easily have missed it but it was a massively late flag and an iffy call. Don’t know why that’s such a controversial opinion on a Bama board.
Should have added in my OP that it shouldn’t have mattered because we didn’t do anything to help ourselves and put us in a position to lose from the get go. Most undisciplined and immature team we’ve had under Saban, and we’re not winning shite if it continues

Sounds like a buncha LSU fans in here.
Fact is, we played a very good Vol team. We played undisciplined football from the opening kickoff. The defense is not as good as we thought they'd be.
Vols won. It had to happen at some point.

OMG stop blowing the refs. We're literally ranked 121 in penalties..
Yes, they missed targeting. Face it.... We're sloppy and undisciplined.

I think there’s clearly some anti-Bama bias going on. Don’t believe it’s any kind of conspiracy. Refs just seem a little more eager to call things on us for some reason. Whether it’s to prove they aren’t in our pocket or something, who knows. Throw in some utter incompetence and there you go.
That said, at the end of the day yesterday wasn’t an isolated incident. We have a penalty problem. We’ve been becoming increasingly undisciplined while I ur head coach does nothing to work the refs or light a fire under our players like he used to.

I just hope our next crew can collectively count to 4 on a consistent basis

The way the game was called (I know that can't be true) but it appeared the refs had no intent on a even call. It looked as though they were after our azz almost as much as UT.
Fukers didn't even know what down it was.

What I don't like to see on a Bama board is a bunch of pussies acting the LSU fans they always bitch about for crying about the refs.
It takes the accountability of the players.

quote:That was a terrible call. The refs waited forever. The can't wait to watch the play ad throw a flag after they are pressured to do so by Tenn. They either saw PI when it happened or they didn't. There almost needs to be a rule the ref throws a flag within 2-3 seconds of immediately seeing the foul or they can't throw it later...........But the worst was reversing an obvious targeting and not calling the late hits on Young ALL day. The refs were obviously caught up in some sort of bias where they were just not calling Tenn.

For the people saying, stop blaming the refs. Yes we should have just played better, but this is not loser crying talk. The refs set a new RECORD for penalties against us in a game!!! These missed calls on Young are facts that even Gary was describing on TV. I had people texting me during the game about late hits on Young. I believe this was one of those games you could show it to a ref crew for review and even they would say it was horribly called. Saban should file a complaint. Bama hate is real. And when we finally start going down, it will look like vultures tearing apart a carcass all trying to get their kick in while they can.

The crazy thing about it...our receivers were held every single time the ball was in the air. Go back and watch the full game.
Burton got held A LOT!

Had Moore not been draped all over him he probably would have caught the pass for six.

Exactly. This isn't some LSU sour grapes bullshite. The numbers speak for themselves. 130 yards in penalties to almost nothing against Tennessee? It was obscene. It was an absolute mugging. In terms of officiating, one of the most statistically lopsided games in history.
The targeting on BY happened right in front of the back judge. During the replay review I saw the same back judge watching the replay and busting a gut like he'd just heard the funniest joke in his life.
That crew was unbelievable, and yeah we made the play on defense to win the game, and it was erased by an atrocious call.

The call or no call that got me was the fumble where they quickly blew the whistle and ruled the play dead on an obvious fumble. That’s fine but they been allowing the same guy to extend play on previous downs.
