Does Alabama or Tennessee have more to lose this Saturday?

A game of this magnitude could have long term implications beyond this season. Both have a lot to gain from a win this Saturday, but also have a lot to lose. To me, Tennessee has more to lose considering that their general program outlook could look much, much different if they win this game this early into Heupel's tenure. This is the Vols' Super Bowl, and regardless of whatever else happens the rest of the season, they could always hang their hat on a win over Alabama. The Tide still have plenty to lose in the current season considering what the standard for their program has been for the past 15ish years (championship or bust), but it wouldn't be the first time a Nick Saban led team lost a regular season game but went on to win a championship.

Good luck to both teams this weekend

Tennessee. They're all under the ether of their own hype train, and a loss to BAMA will be heartbreaking for the fans and the players. This is THE game they want to win, and always has been. It's their Super Bowl, and it's at home. I can't wait to watch the Tennercee 'faithful' filing out of that shite hole in the second half.

If bama loses with an injured quarterback Alabama will still have another opportunity to make our way to the SEC Championship and the college football playoff by winning out the rest of the way. All our goals will still be in front of us.

Tennessee, and it ain't even close. TONS of pressure on the program for them to win this game. I for one question if they will be able to handle it.

Tennessee purely for the fact that you can lose one game and it really does not matter.

However TN still has to play Georgia

Tennessee by far.

Bama has already won enough the past 15 years to consider them the greatest football dynasty ever. Who cares if they win another game?

Tennessee on the other hand, this may be their last chance.

This is stupid, because if Alabama wants in the playoffs they also still have to play Georgia, in the SEC championship.

A loss by either is a huge set back if championships are your goal.

You are assuming that Georgia gets in that game? What happens if UT loses to Alabama, but beats Georgia in the regular season?

I think what he is saying is VOLS still have to play the Dawgs in the regular season, whereas Bama will likely be favored in every remaining game they play before the SECCG.

Alabama, IMO.

This game doesn't REALLY matter in regards to UT's chances at winning the east. They're going to have to beat UGA to win the east even if they beat bama. Bama is cleraly going to win the west.

If bama enters the SECCG with a loss to UT then loses the SECCG, they're out of hte playoffs. That's a major rarity for them. If UT loses this game, well..so waht? They're way ahead of expectations and already have wins over UF and LSu. Nobdoy would have predicted them to beat alabama preseason anyway so it's not like they're losing anythign anyway.

100% agree. We can lose and still make the SECCG. We are out our starting QB until that officially gets changed. And y'all are top 10 this year and deservedly. Not to mention it's at home and y'all haven't won in aeons.

good point. *edit* but they still have to play UGA so... we have an easier route to the game i think, personally.

Difference being UT likely has to beat UGA in order to make it to the SEC Championship game. A loss to Bama and a loss to UGA would almost certainly prevent an SEC Championship appearance.

UT is the toughest game remaining on Bama’s schedule, and if we lose - we’ll still be favored by double digits in the rest of our games.
