“People are gonna ask about Bryce, and there’s really nothing new to tell you,” Saban said. “He’s making progress, he’s been able to practice some and we’ll continue to evaluate him as the week progresses.”

Given Milroe’s struggles against Texas A&M and Young’s competitive desire to check into the game late, could the latter have played last week if Saban chose to play his injured starter?

“I didn’t think that he was in a position that he could go and effectively do his job the way he’s capable of doing it,” Saban said Wednesday. “He’s made a lot of progress from that point, so hopefully, that will change in the near future.”

We really don't need him to sling it all over Neyland for him to be effective. If he can consistently make 8-12 yard throws without suffering a lot of pain then he should play.

Man you know that Saban isn't going to show his hand on this. I would take most of what he is saying about the situation with a grain of salt.

Just as I suspected. Bryce may or may not play. I love injury updates.

"Player is still dealing with an injury. He's day to day relative to whether or not he can go out there and create the kind of positive self-gratification that is beneficial to the team as a whole, aight. We'll evaluate how he does this week in practice and make a decision based on what the medical staff, player, coaches, psychologists, nutritionists, masseuses, mascots, burger king, and his parents think. That's all I have to say about injuries."

Can’t recall if anyone mentioned it here but Bryce was announced as the starting quarterback during the video introductions in the stadium Saturday night against A&M. Crowd erupted. As we all know, Milroe actually started.

So.. This isn't worth looking at... but a guy on twitter said He spoke with a player on the team and said Bryce received 1st team reps all week and decision to start Milroe was at last minute.

LINK

It doesn't make sense to me. but what do I know.

Yea, that was really strange. Everyone in the stadium saw that Bryce didn't throw a single ball in warmups and it was well past "screw with their prep" time

I mean, if true, and BY was taking 1st team reps all week, that's a real disservice to Jalen and likely contributed to him not being as sharp with his reads and whatnot.

From that same Twitter post:

Also he warmed up under the stadium and then his shoulder tightened up

How is that a disservice to Jalen? I mean if you think your starting QB is gonna play the he gets the 1st team reps. Obviously taking some random twitter post with a huge grain of salt, but if the coaching staff thinks it likely that Bryce was gonna play against A&M then why would Jalen get the 1st team reps?

I mean, Saban just said:

So it's not clear at what point Saban felt that way. Was it at the beginning of the week? Five minutes before the game but after BY was announced as the starter? At some other point?

The tweet by random Twitter dude also doesn't make clear if BY got ALL 1st team reps or if he was just taking reps with the 1st team (along with Jalen).

Probably not worth trying to dissect and analyze a tweet from a rando

Sounds unlikely since we were pretty close to losing and he never went in the game. A tight shoulder could be loosened up.

Perception is a funny thing. I thought it sounded like great news. He’s practicing in some capacity. He’s closer than he was last week, which looked close to me anyway. And he’s hoping he’s in a position to be able to contribute in the near future.

That’s about as promising as I would hope to hear at a mid week presser.

Does anyone know when those video packages are put together? It could give credence to that twitter guy's post linked above that Bryce was going to go until his shoulder tightened up on game day?
