Turns out last play of the game was a good call.

Last night I didn't like the call on last play of the game. However, this morning I watched the ending again. Truth is there was nothing wrong with the call except execution. King should have thrown the ball much earlier. Receiver was very open.

Ball should have been halfway there at this point.

or even at this point.

He was at the 1 by the time the bad (and late) pass arrived. That's how late the uncatchable throw was. King was late, knew it, and tried to zing it and it sailed. Wasn't going to be TD at that point regardless.

He was late on other throws last night also. Is it King? Coaching? Good teams score TDs on this play all night long. Was a very good play call. End of story.

Yes, ball needs to be in the air 2 seconds earlier

Thanks for posting the picture. Definitely late on the throw based on how the route was run. I wonder if Stewart was actually supposed to go a yard or two deeper into the endzone before breaking to the pylon.

You can also see that King's feet are not square with the target. That contributed to the throw not being on target.

Stewart proved he could make clutch catches. He was in that DBs head.

No problem with the call.

No. It was not a good call because Jimbo should have known that is too difficult of a throw for him to make w/the game on the line. Period. End of story.

He was inaccurate all night long so to expect him to make a perfect NFL throw like that is ludicrous. It's not a throw he regularly makes, he had been slow to get the ball out all game long, and he isn't accurate enough to make that your winner take all call. It was a stupid arse call to make. There is no getting around it.

The ball sailed so much…. It could have been a PERFECT play with a PERFECT route, and it still would have been ucatchable.

The details keep killing us.

I 100% agree with your point. Ball was late, and maybe the route should’ve been run a bit deeper.

Playing devils advocate here: why run a play that requires basically perfect timing to win the game from the 2?

If your QB is incapable of making the throw, I fail to see how it was a good call?
