The game sold out earlier this week. Oxford isn't an easy travel distance if you are further than JXN, Tupelo, Memphis. Games against minor opponents in 90 degree weather result in light attendance. SEC games will all be well attended.
Yep. Folks who live far away, have maybe taken these first few weeks off from going and I don’t blame them as they’ll be there for Kentucky and auburn in 2 weeks . Hell I live a mile from the stadium and this is the first game I’ll be going to.
I’d much rather watch the other games going on on the TV’s and have OM/central Arkansas going on the laptop.
Thank goodness the weather will be good this weekend as that’ll help people who were on the fence about going as well

An anecdote doesn't disprove my point. Attendance is down across college football, especially for shitty OOC games. Auburn is surrounded by major cities. Oxford is not.
Oxford has a major city closer to it than Auburn does. You're just not being honest to say otherwise.

Most of the Auburn fans don't live near Auburn, but they still make the 2-3 hour drive to support their crappy team with no QB or coach.

Most Auburn fans live in Atlanta, Birmingham, or Montgomery, all of which are large cities within two hours of Auburn.

No, it doesn't. Auburn is closer to Montgomery than Oxford is to Memphis both as the crow flies and in the car. Plus, Montgomery is a major Auburn town, whereas Ole Miss is just one of a few popular teams in Memphis.

I was refuting the Ag who said most Auburn fans don't live near Auburn, when the majority of their fanbase is less than two hours from campus.

What we are all learning from OM fans in this thread:
- Oxford is too hot for fans
- Oxford is too far for fans
- Daytime kickoffs hurt attendance. Yet, no one can make night games because it's too expensive to stay in Oxford.
- Vaught, as the second smallest stadium in the conference, is TOO LARGE for Ole Miss.
- Oxford is forever doomed regardless of OM's athletic department's efforts for the reasons stated above.
- Notwithstanding the above, an Oxford lawyer claims "[h]ell I live a mile from the stadium and this is the first game I’ll be going to." In reference to week five.
- Lane Kiffin as OM's head coach will always be linked to P5 openings for the reasons stated above.
- Lane Kiffin hates OM's small, empty stadium.
- For the reasons stated above, Lane Kiffin will take another P5 job sooner rather than later.
- For the second time during our lifetimes, Auburn University will poach OM's Head Football Coach.

You've also learned our fanbase is small. I notice that didn't make your list.

Keep digging that hole, fool. Montgomery is not a major city. Montgomery only has a metro population of 370,000 people. Memphis has a metro population of 1,340,000 people.

Apologies.

Sure, the fanbase is relatively small. But I expect an SEC program having a historic run to put asses in seats.
State has a similar size stadium. They had 7 wins last year, OM had 10. Why aren't they struggling to put asses in seats?
What's the closest population center to Starkville? Tuscaloosa?

To be fair so far they've had home games against Tulsa, Troy, and Central Arkansas. I'd hope Ole Miss fans can show up for a top 10 team coming to Oxford in their SEC opener
They should still be doing better. South Carolina sold out home games against Georgia State and Charlotte for comparison.
USC announced on Friday afternoon that it’s out of university-sold tickets for Saturday’s contest against Charlotte. It also previously sold out home games against Georgia and Georgia State this fall, along with last year’s season finale against Clemson.

Nothing I said was false, you just can't understand relativism and population, apparently. Also, you don't get to define what is and isn't a "major city." Remember that whole relativism thing? Why comparing Auburn to Ole Miss is inherently incompatible? In Mississippi, Montgomery would be the largest city in the state by far.
Let's look at the cities within two hours of Auburn and Ole Miss:
Auburn - Atlanta, Birmingham, Montgomery (population approximately 6.5 million)
Ole Miss - Memphis, Tupelo (population approximately 1.4 million)
Not to mention, again, Ole Miss is not the most popular team in Memphis. That designation belongs to the FBS school headquartered in the city.

I agree that people need to show up but let's be honest here, we've had home games against Central Arkansas, Tulsa, and Troy so far. We will pack it out the rest of the season.

Auburn is the second most popular team in Birmingham and a a major draw there. I'd be shocked if Auburn wasn't second or third in Atlanta too.
