Of course this subject comes up because Auburn, once again, plays a team that manages to squeeze out a loss from the jaws of victory.

This is also after they pulled out wins over Arkansas and Ole Miss recently, with help from the officials those times.

When has there been a game we absolutely should have lost in the end, but didn't?
I'm not really referring to games where the other team outgains us or get more first downs, etc.

Only one comes to mind is the Tennessee game from like 1997 where we won 9-6.
But Tennessee was driving late, fumbled giving the ball back to Alabama. And we managed to squeeze out a long drive to win with a FG.

Last year's Auburn game is a maybe, but Auburn had to get a first down but couldn't. This happens enough.

I'm talking about crap today like a fumble to win type shenanigans.

Uh Texas..

We should have lost that one. Thank God Ewers jumped when he saw Dallas closing in.

We've had several our talent bailed us out and we won in spite of some bad coaching.

That was the 2005 Tennessee game. Tennessee beat our arse in 1997.

I think the OP is actually thinking of the 1990 game.

Yea that was the 9-6 game. If my old man memory holds I think Philip Doyle kicked a 50 yarder to take the lead. But Bama played well that game as I recall.

Indeed.
Bama was a heavy underdog after starting 0-3 and TN was undefeated and ranked high

Depends on your definition of undeserved or lucky. We were lucky to win the Texas game. We were lucky to win the Iron Bowl last year and in 2009. We were lucky to beat UTk in 2009 and UGA in 2012 and 2017. But we also made the plays we had to make when we had to make them to win all of those games. We just fricked around and played like arse for significant portions of those games.

If you're talking Auburn luck, which I'd define as random, inexplicable unforced errors by your opponent, ref incompetence, or simply having the ball bounce 20+ yards down the sideline 1 foot from going out of bounds before rolling through the endzone for a touchback, the only one I can recall is Arkansas in 2014 where we only won because of a missed XP early in the game. Our bullshite wins are almost always the result of us fricking around and then coming up with some amazing effort at the 11th hour to save ourselves.

6-3 was 2005. 9-6 was 1990.
