They don't listen. When it was rumored that Harsin would be the next head coach at Auburn there were literally Boise State fans offering to drive the guy to the airport. That tells you all you need to know.

Harsin is a good coach but he needs more time. Auburn should actually extend him while he’ll take less money for more years now. He starts winning, it could get expensive.

You didn't tell Auburn fans anything they didn't already know. Most Auburn fans knew this would be the end result, but they were cautiously optimistic.
