He hasn’t had time to recruit his players:
I have been saying he is lazy and doesn’t recruit since he came here.. please continue to blame “Briars” though…

Look at all this work he has put in though…
He has 2 guys that are 4 stars and the rest are low 3 stars in his entire history of recruiting.

We’ve been pretty good against the run so far, we are getting the sacks, and are dealing with a couple of key injuries in the secondary, one of which is a season ending injury. So the word is out. We’ll be dealing with other team’s passing attacks all season.
ETA: Which to me means we have to go even harder after the QB with lots of blitzing.

Good thing the rest of our schedule consists of the worst passing teams in the SEC outside of Mississippi St.
Slush and Cat injuries hurt bad.
Brini hasn’t got it worked out yet which is disappointing.
But I suspect we will improve as the season goes on. Slush is supposed to be back this week and Hudson Clark played pretty good this Saturday. 0 receptions allowed, 2 knockdown and got an OPI called.

His “drop 8 and hope the other qb gives the ball away repeatedly” scheme was occasionally effective early on but good passing games just eat us alive. That’s not even new.

Petrino showed that you can absolutely chew up that defensive scheme with crossing patterns and out routes for a steady 8+ yards a pop.
Looking forward, Leach’s offense is our defense’s worst nightmare.

Honestly, if we would just clean up the tackling then our defense would be so much better. We gave up way too many yards after initial contact.

You would think so but Leach has shown his own ability not to adjust. Although it seems he is turning the corner a little on that.

Cool so the line and linebackers he didn’t recruit any of them. Only the secondary. And why is it Briles has back up after back up? But 3 years in Odom can’t do shite? Yes cat getting hurt sucks but it’s 3 years in a row now isn’t it? Kind of expect that shite. Where is his back up you recruited?

It took Bobby for you to realize the bend don’t break bullshite defense isn’t good? Not us making Missouri QBs look like young Joe Montana the last 2 years?

Also I don't think anyone said Barry was some great recruiter. The argument I saw was lets wait till we get more depth. I think you are mostly punching straw men. I have a hard time believing anyone will defend this secondary. We could do worse than Odom and certainly do better as well. I don't see Pittman letting him go unless the defense as a whole continues to be really bad since they are so close.

I have trouble getting too excited about replacing defensive coordinators. Fielding a decent defense at Arkansas is apparently difficult seeing as how I’ve only seen it done like 3-4 times in 30 years.

It does feel that way, the good Petrino years were fun but I'll take Odom over Willy Robinson
I really miss that 2014 Arkansas defense, obviously it took us awhile to get going that year but there was alot of talent on the defensive side of the ball. There were only a few games in which the defensive didn't put us in great positions to win. 13-14 Bama game was tough

I’m not angry, I just don’t get the Odom love, every year our downside has been defense. He has yet to do his job and recruit anyone. Just recruit somebody, above an 87, 3 star… but all you come in here and shite all over Briles every week because bad passes or a sweep, “which I dislike too”, but don’t dare talk about Barry.

As a scheme guy, I don’t have a problem with him. Other than the bend don’t break BS, that always gives up a touchdown. I want him to do 90% of his job and actually recruit people for depth.

Maybe Odom is our weakest link. I know there have been times in the last 2 seasons where we have really appreciated his defense. I just don't know why there is a need to throw anyone under the bus at this point. There are times when Briles and Odom both drive me crazy. This game is the first in the Pittman era where I think our team was unprepared and uninspired, and that's on Pittman.

The reason he isn’t at Missouri is his lack of desire to recruit. Want a home/work life balance, sell insurance.
This isn’t straw manning him, he doesn’t recruit. Our defense has held us back the last two years. If we hadn’t had all the super seniors, he didn’t recruit, we would have been a 5 win team last year. I just don’t want to pay a coach not to do their jobs.

This isn’t a melt by the way, this is a until Odom does his job of recruiting or we replace him with someone that will, this is as good as it gets, win 9. Might get lucky and win 10…
