Wins over Mercer and struggling win over San Jose St, this is what rock bottom feels like. We could have had Kirby but the PTB didn’t want him to coach in the Natty so they went with Gus and the rest is history.

I think that we would have lost Kirby when the UGA job became available. It would have been nice to have had him set the table before he left, though. I guarantee that he would have left the roster stacked, not bare like Gus did.

Poor Harsin Stans. Can’t bitch about Harsin but Gus is still an easy target.

Why can’t we bitch about both?

Gus may have left us bare but Harsin hasn't done shite in the recruiting or portal aspect. Can't defend Harsin any longer

He didnt. Just at OLine. It was not a terrible roster Harsin got. He just let a lot of it slip away and did nothing to replace it

It was not loaded but certainly not bare

The knock on Harsin coming in was that he was hard to get along with and he could not recriut.
so...

We brought in a band of boys with no connections to the SEC. I had hoped he would be likeable and hit the ground running. Clearly neither of those things were correct.

I said that last year when everyone was ranting about getting rid of the "BBG gang".

All you do is trade one BBQ gang for another. Now our BBQ gang eats tofu

Only Gus was mentioned. That would be a start.

You can’t win without an O-line, regardless of the coach. Harsin was not dealt a great hand but he doesn’t have the ability to fix it - recruiting-wise or portal.

Disagree. Kirby would have had three full seasons at AU by that point and I don’t think he would have made that move. I think the “call of momma” is really overrated when it comes to these coaches and where they are in their program building.

This was the biggest mistake AU has made that I can remember, and all they had to do is let the man coach in one more game.

It’s not Gus’s fault that Harsin decided to not recruit while in Auburn much less, fill a team.

And Fearless, since you were so sure that Harsin was the guy and Gus was a bum, please tell me, are you still a delusional?

True enough.

But it is his fault that he had absolutely no one beyond the starters at those positions I listed who was SEC-caliber.

For all his faults and undeserved hype, Nix was a legit SEC QB1. Would any of the others in the QB room he left behind even make an SEC roster?

Same at all the other positions. We had some decent first teamers but zero depth at almost every critical unit.

He did leave us fantastic kickers, though.
