Whoever the next hire is will have full support from the Pres, the AD, and the PTB. The coach will be given 4 years at a minimum to get things going. Our roster will be that bad. Obviously you can find some difference makers. But this isn't the same as when Harsin walked in the door and all you needed was a good transfer WR and couple OT's and then have a solid class of high school OL your first full cycle.

ESPN showing us 30 point dogs now

Yep and only growing. We have had some bad losses. We have been blown out. Have we ever been a 30 point dog coming into a game?

Everything I've read about him seems like it would be a very solid hire

Only negative I've heard is he isn't a grad and he worked under Bjork at Ole Miss. People at Troy loved him and he hired Neal Brown there.

Next Tuesday will be the dreaded "players only" meeting

Coaching search formed shortly after
Backdoor talks with agents
Number 1 on the board is Lane he wants $10m/10 year Auburn offers $10m/5yr with limited buyout options for both.
Lane declines
Deion is number 2. Not a fit for both parties. They agree to keep it quiet.
Freeze interviews
Jeff Grimes interviews

PTB/Hartwell/Pres Roberts hire Freeze for $5m/5yr with limited buyouts on both side.
Does Matt Rhule getting the boot at Carolina figure into your timeline anywhere?

No I do not think Rhule is even an after thought in this search

The Freeze love really does confuse me. Auburn fans get so buried in the weeds on this stuff.

I think the opposite is funnier. People that don't like Freeze on a personal level so they poke holes in his resume to make it look less impressive.

Not saying he's the goat but cmon dude can coach.

Why did he need to cheat to a 12-25 record?

Nobody knows if his Ole Miss days and mmmm can be replicated again.

True, same can be said for all candidates were looking at outside of Lane.

I still think it's Lane fwiw unless his agent knows of some bigger jobs that are opening up soon.

I could care less about his off field stuff, I don't need a football coach to be my moral compass. He did cheat, but anything he did is now ok. My issue is he cheated, gained an unfair advantage, and couldn't win shite with it. Now that it's a level playing field, and he can't get an advantage, he is going to recruit and win now?

He was 12-25 when coaching on a level playing field

What in his resume is impressive? One 10 win season and a bowl win?

Bryan Harsin is living and current proof that a resume doesn’t always mean anything.

He was literally the most qualified and successful HC to take the job in Auburn history…

And how’d that workout?

His resume is not impressive on its own merit. I can certainly get past his personal shortcomings. I just think he is a 5-9 win guy that will have us competing for 3rd to 5th in the west until we buy him out. We will have spend $39,000,000 plus whatever Freeze costs, to land in a worse spot than when we let Gus go.

Personal issues don't bother me. My #1 hire would be Kiffin. He can certainly be cited for "issues." (although, I think most of his early coaching life was pure immaturity that caused the issues.)
