Why are LSU fans complaining about lack of a tune-up game?

Is this just normal LSU fan complaining and/or excuse making? or something else to it?

I mean if so, Bama, Georgia, Arkansas, Florida didn't get tune-up games. They all won their first games. What gives here? Why all the bellyaching about it.

ETA: Sorry LSU fans, it got explained to me that FSU scheduled their week 0 game way late as an afterthought. I kind of understand that now. But ... I kind of see FSU as a cupcake game of sorts. That's not wrong.

Two years in a row now, our Week 1 opponent scheduled a Week 0 'tune up' game against a shitty opponent late in the scheduling process.

Having a tune up game against an overmatched opponent is a good way to work some things out before playing schools of comparable talent.

Obviously, though, while LSU fans made note of it and commented on it prior to both games, it's losing both of those games that brings out the bellyaching.

FSU got a tune up game and LSU didn't.
You already knew that though.
To be fair to the corndogs, if they had had a tune up game like FSU, they probably would have won that game.

Yeah, pointing out the obvious. I would like to think I would ride that excuse. The great thing about any game 1 (no matter how good or bad the opponent), you have from spring until now to be prepared.

Sounds overrated. Mike Norvell was obviously still an idiot even after the first game.

Yep...Florida State scheduled the Duquesne game on February 26, 2021. LSU has had 18 months to adjust their schedule...that was only 8 months after LSU added UAB to their schedule...FSU just appears to be better than LSU at planning their schedule out.

Needing a tune up game to play a bad FSU team is sad

These games were arranged through ESPN as an opening kickoff type game
Both UCLA and FSU decided to add a week 0 game
LSU needs to add a clause in the future to prevent it from happening again

Oregon, Cincinnati, and Utah didn't get one either. That's what a college football kickoff game should be, both teams starting the season.

Bama could have a gripe, but it's Utah state.

We just tired of teams scheduling a week zero game after agreeing to play us in week one

Ah, the LSU way. Blame someone else when they fail.

no what LSU SHOULD DO is control its situation by scheduling a week 0 game if you think its hurting you. It's not anybody else's responsibility to make out your opening game. Ya know, take responsibility for what happens and quit saying you got fkd every time things don't go your way.
