“The measure of your team, what is your growth from week one to week two, even though you had a pretty good start, can you build on that and make progress for the future, because we’re going to need to do that playing against a really good opponent this week. Texas has, you know, Sark’s done a really good job there ,he’s a very good offensive coach. They have a great system and scheme on offense. They’ve got some really good players on offense. B. Robinson is an outstanding running back. Worthy is a great receiver. Ewers is a very good quarterback, great arm. Very talented guy. They have seven starters back on defense. Played much better last week on defense than some of the times last year when people scored points on them. This is a very improved defensive team to me. They do a really good job on special teams; played with great effort. You know, blocked a punt last week and Worthy’s a really good punt returner.”
Sounds like he really knows what he's talking about

This sounds like an Aggie thread title

He lost to KANSAS. I think our definition of doing a good job are different.

Sounds like exactly what I would expect pretty much any coach to say about his opponent in a Monday presser aka coach speak

I think Gene Stallings was the best at the "talking up your opponent" style of "coach speak". He could make Southern Miss sound like the Dallas Cowboys.

He had a habit of making Southern Miss look like the Dallas Cowboys. We lost to them in 1990 and needed a completed Hail Mary pass to beat them in 1995.

Brett Favre, yes sir, I was there. My old man scored me some tickets when I was a teenager. And then again I was there in 95, as a student. There is a reason they stuck in mind I guess.

Classy quote from Saban giving his old OC some respect while not providing bulletin board material to tick off our players.
Think we lose this one, but believe our team will show up and play hard.

Can't say if he was a better overall oc than Kiffin. Kiffin updated the Bama offense and it is hard to overstate his influence on our offense to this day. But Sark was the best play caller we ever had in T-town, hands down.

Saban is the king of coachspeak. Coach___________ is either doing a great job or will do a great job. Saban is on record saying Croom did an excellent job at miss st.

Either him or Vince, Vanderbilt has the best long snapper in the country, Dooley.

Meh, I'm just looking forward to the game. It's the annual "Texas is back" game.

Nice moniker.
Didn't you love when the Ole Ball Coach referred to the Brown's as the "LOSER BROTHERS"

You guys are going to get fricked up this week bad. Not fricked up like ya'll motherfrickers do to livestock, but fricked up nonetheless.
Have your little snarky fun, but you'll likely disappear after this week when you are reminded that you are not anywhere near the elite pecking order still, and relegated to your position as just a good team from Texas.
frick off and well, frick off.

Hey cow poke. Here's what he also said about Utah State.
“Blake Anderson has done a really good job there,” Saban said Monday in his weekly press conference of Utah State’s head coach. “This team (Utah State) can play really in any conference and do well.
“They ended up a top 25 team a year ago. They won 11 games. They beat a couple of Pac-12 teams. They beat Oregon State in a bowl game. They have 12 starters back and the quarterback (Logan Bonner) is back, who is a really good player.”
“They were one of the most effective passing teams in the country a year ago,” Saban said “These guys are very aggressive on defense, they create a lot of negative plays, they get a lot of turnovers and they have their specialists back.”
Sound familiar dumdum? He gives all shite football teams and their fanbases emotional handjobs before a game. This shite ain't new.

He said the same thing about Utah State.
This is what he does to try to make his team respect a weak opponent

Stallings learned it from Bryant, he was the master of talking up the opponent and poor mouthing his team.
