I keep seeing the "Orgeron left the team with almost nobody" - so for someone who doesn't follow LSU football super close, what happened?

You guys had top 5 recruiting classes in 2019, 2020 and 2021. Top 15 in 2018.

That's a pretty absurd amount of attrition if you're completely devoid of talent.

Coaching has been a major void at LSU for a long time.

It's always someone else's fault, basically.

They still have talent. The following link is teams braked based on recruits/players in current team. They wanna deflect and act like they was in worse shape than Florida and UT when they both hired new coaches.

He obviously didn’t recruit OL well. LSU needs to get the horn $50k deals, and get themselves some 5 star OL guys

Talent level index

LSU is still #8 in talent level and #4 in the SEC.

I lay all of the problems at Bama’s feet.

I know we all joke about Les Miles and he had a crazy amount of flaws but generally they had good defenses and solid special teams pretty much every year minus some exceptions. Never had a losing season. He wasn’t as terrible as many made him out to be but he also had a lot of shortcomings.

O was not a good hire but 2019 doesn’t happen without him bringing in Burrow and retaining Aranda.

Losing Aranda was a major blow.

This is the worse coached LSU team I think I have ever seen. Aside from the players. This team look unprepared, lazy, and soft. That’s solely on coaching.

To an extent, but Orgeron left a culture that was awful.

Players quitting mid year, opting out before the season, bringing girlfriends kids to practice to work out with the players, etc.

Kelly has his work cut out for him. It won't come over night. UGA played ND twice and they played us hard both games. His offense was pretty pedestrian but they were fundamentally sound. I suspect Kelly will get the problems ironed out.

It’s amazing how this board refuses to believe lsu has had an insane amount of attrition and busts on the recruiting trail. shite even our kicker went into the draft as a junior

When Case McCoy scrambled, he looked like a retard.

When Daniel’s scrambled, he looked very capable. If they can teach him how to find early reads to get rid of the football… I suspect LSU will be much harder to beat later in the season.

Lots of players went to the draft and a lot left the program. Even with 18 transfers to the program since last year we’re only in the mid 70’s with scholly players. It’s ridiculous. Orgeron should be banned for life at LSU for how he left this program, even with a NC

This is a pretty big understatement

18 OL players
6 x 4*s
6 x 3*s
2 x 2*s
4 x unranked
(247 sports: LSU 2022 Roster)

By comparison (just glancing), UGA has 21 OL rostered players 13 are 4 * or higher.
