Vandy, South Carolina, and Missouri

Are we the best of the worst?

I think South Carolina may turn some heads this year.

Heck, you beat us last year, so I can’t disparage your team.

This is from 247 regarding South Carolina:

quote:

No one knew at the time that outscoring the Aggies 14-0 in the fourth quarter would send the Gamecocks into a bye week with some momentum that they used to totally turn their season around. They demolished Florida at home, came from behind to beat Auburn, and beat North Carolina in their bowl game to finish with a winning record just weeks after needing a last second drive to avoid losing at home to Vanderbilt.

We played them before their mid season turn around. With their upgrade at QB and TE, I’m interested to see how much better they will be this year.

Misread your question or it updated but I finna leave what I posted, and I feel they would do well. This year at least.

I’d say they’re better than worst of other conferences.

I’m not taking Rutgers/Oregon St/etc over teams mentioned.

looks like Auburn & Vanderbilt are the bottom. Vandy still lead the all-time series with Auburn?

Not really much difference in the last 10 years for Auburn/South Carolina/Mizzou

For me it's really the middle that has always separated the SEC. Speaking as a former bottom feeder, UK, we use to play Indiana almost every year in the 80s, early 90s. I thought we would have been .500 a lot of years in the Big Ten back then. Even 6 win SEC teams have 2 or 3 players that can wreck you

You should include Auburn in this group since they lost to SC last year.

2019 and 2020 would be tossups. Last year I’d say us. This year it’s too early to say.

Yes. Not much difference.

Auburn has two seasons with 10+wins (2013 12-2, 2017 10-4)

SC has two seasons with 10+ wins (2011 11-2, 2012 11-2)

Mizz has two (2013 12-2, 2014 11-3)

Win %
AU 59.7
Mizz 55.2
SC 53.2

There is some difference but like I said, not really much.

Compare to top tier SEC teams like UGA and Bama. Or LSU. You are much closer to bottom feeder than top of the conference.
