If Mississippi only had one marquee school, would it be a powerhouse?

The recruiting base is there, but being split up between two schools, not to mention having to compete with neighbors poaching some of your instate talent, they can never get over the hump. I think if they joined forces they'd be equals with LSU, Bama, and UGA.

If they played in the weak SEC East, absolutely

We would probably be similar to LSU. Regular 9+ win seasons with an occasional championship

2 shitbag schools do not equal 1 powerhouse

When was Tennessees last championship in a big 3 sport?
Or last 10 win football season?

Can we merge the coaching staffs and have Lane and Mike Leach as both co-HC/co-OC? It would be wildly entertaining…

The Backstreet Boys were at the top of the charts

Perhaps if you joined forces with Vanderbilt...

Another factor is that Mississippi also has USM (in Mississippi) and places like Memphis, Tulane, South Alabama, and a couple of the smaller Louisiana State schools that pilfer some of the sleeper type athletes that the SEC schools might otherwise consider.

No. Nakobe Dean went to UGA. And they had 2 schools.

Potential is obviously there. Likely much more competitive in football and basketball, but baseball could have easily had some more championships IMO if only one major state university

Back 2 Back national championships in baseball. Tennessee where you at? OleMiss went into Knoxville last year to play football, and Tennessee fans though that shite was golf.

Big 3 sports are Football, basketball and womens basketball (not even up for debate. Numbers prove it and baseball competes with Track and softball) so TN has a womens title in 2008 as their last one in the big 3 sports

Ole Miss would be pretty solid - neither them or Moo U will ever win an NC in football the way things are now.

if you combined the two 2014 teams, they could have won a title.
