Well reclassification has completed once again back in the winter. Now that school is over for the year I guess something to discuss. Gonna be some pissed off schools moving up to 7A. Seems they wanted to increase the size of the classification.

Personally I’m disappointed in my new region for baseball. Went from a strong region to a region that I bet my team could play completely opposite handed and still win. We play some of those teams because they are close for out of region games and win 18-0, 22-2 and scores like that. Literally lost 2 major rivals in all sports as well. Football region will be possibly a hair stronger and possibly basketball.

I haven’t looked at the regional alignments for 7A yet but I bet it splits up the region of death with HT, Hoover, and Thompson.

It isn’t fair to my school or team to give out who I coach. I’m in 5A and not far from the birmingham area.

My online fandom and personality isn’t something affect my job or coaching. It’s also why you will never hear me question college coaches like Butch because I need to remain neutral for my players.

Russellville is just 5A however very good at baseball not sure about football anymore. So a 4A competing with a 5A isn’t a huge jump. Plus I don’t think Russellville is even one of the larger 5A schools.

I never worry about school size of the opponent in baseball. My pitcher has to beat their batters and my batters have to beat their pitcher.

They absolutely suck in every sport lol. We’ve played them many times and they are putrid. But possibly not as bad as some of the teams in the region we are in now. I mean like bad bad.

They do have some good athletes not sure why they are so poor in basketball and football. My son’s JV team which went 19-4 so they were decent beat them by 40+ at their place. They have 2 decent school that compete on each side of them seems they would step up their game some in Munford and Alexandria. Which Alexandria is a tiny 5A school

Yeah, I am not sure about football. I coach youth baseball in the metro. Baseball is my niche.

I coached my sons travel teams. I enjoyed it. However was a busy arse schedule. Just keep it fun. My 20 year olds group was better then my 16 year olds group. Won multiple state championships(3), played AAA, won World Series, 2 super NITs, 1 NIT, 1 Cotton State’s championship. We had kids from childersburg to cullman from Bessemer to Oxford. Our running back Sean Jackson was a part of that group.

The 16 year olds I was more laid back probably didn’t push them as much as the older group. They were still really good just didn’t win a bunch of big stuff. They weren’t as intense as the older group either tho. Some of the older group’s parents were like it’s ok for the kids to run around and play wall ball and all that kind of stuff in between games? I was like sure. They can do it as much as they want until some player says they are to tired to play. That never happened and they never played lethargic. Some hide their kids away for 4-5 hours in air conditioning and then sit on the bleachers an hour and they look miserable by the time the next game starts.

ECHS had a chance to return to a damned good football school with hiring Bobby Carr, but they opted against it after telling him he had the job (he quit his other job) and went with Kyle Caldwell.

Double adjusting rankings for Private schools is crazy. If they are successful in a sport they get moved up in classification. Same does not apply for public schools.

Yeah Decatur Heritage is 1A in football, 2A in basketball, and 3A in baseball. It’s silly.

The reason is that they can recruit, an option public schools aren't supposed to have.

Of course everyone with a brain knows how dirty big time high school ball is getting lol.

They are lucky the general rule has been any private school plays up 2 classifications because of scholarship and recruiting advantages.

If it was up to the principal, he would’ve been hired. He tried multiple times to hire him, but the BoE board members voted against it. I think it’s a culmination of Bobby’s personal life and the fact other schools in the county would’ve been pissed he would’ve poached kids to go to ECHS. A lot of people don’t realize, but you can pay the BoE money and go to whatever school you want to in the county and you don’t have to live in that school zone. Bobby would’ve ate that up.
