The Miami Hurricanes in 1999.
PS: That Texas vs Tennessee potential matchup in Game 1 of the CWS is looking mighty juicy right now..

Yeah, the last team I want to face is Texas.

Watched the Stanford vs Oregon St game last night. Stanford looks stout as frick. They’ll be a tough out.

Texas got a brutal draw, they’ll be lucky to make it out of their regional.

They’ve been slowly building. Good young coach who played for them when they were a national power

hence the word.. potential.. matchup..

Agreed.. If we don’t start 2-0, we are going to be in trouble with our pitching the staff the way that it is this year.
But if we can make it out the Regional.. I like our chances in the Super vs ECU or Virginia. Baseball is a funny game sometimes..

It’s a pretty amazing stat though.. just shows how hard it is to win it all. Have to get there.. but then you also have to get lucky.

The best team almost never wins the CWS. We’ve been there.
Good season though Vols.

Rephrase: the only #1 seed to win the college world series

I was skeptical all year that tenn could run it all the way. I am starting to think otherwise now. They are a force.

1999 was the first year they seeded teams 1-8
Prior to that, they just had 8 regionals and seeded the teams once they got to Omaha

Hence the only team to do it

Right, but when you say it like that, it infers that there were years before that when a #1 team failed to win as well.

Texas not making it past the Supers.
