Today's game
7PM ET/6PM CT (1) Tennessee @ Kentucky - SEC Network
Tennessee (19-2) at Kentucky (7-14)
Pitching matchup
UT Fr. RHP Chase Burns (7-1, 2.09 ERA)
UK Gr. LHP Mason Hazelwood (1-2, 5.48 ERA)
Series history: Tennessee leads, 177-152
Tennessee has won the last three series after Kentucky won three straight between 2015-17, including two sweeps in Lexington. The Volunteers have won four consecutive series over the Wildcats since 1992-95. Tennessee last swept Kentucky in 2019 and owns six in the last 29 series. The Vols own a 17-12 series advantage since 1992, including an 8-6 mark in Lexington with a 49-38 in regular-season games.
Tennessee has won all seven series this season and puts its nine SEC road series win streak on the line this weekend at Kentucky. The Volunteers are undefeated in conference road games, going 9-0. They have won 10 consecutive SEC road games dating back to last season. Its next conference win will mark the fifth 20 win SEC season in school history and second straight. It won 20 in 1993, 24 in 1994, 22 in 1995 and 20 in 2021.
Kentucky looks to snap its five SEC series losing streak and reverse a trend that has seen it go 2-6 in its last eight conference games. The Wildcats own one league series victory over Georgia in week two. After winning 12 SEC home series between 2016-18, they have only three in the last three seasons.

Vitello is ready. Watch out for flying bats, LOL

State, I really wanted to get out to Starkville for this series and see your new-ish baseball palace, but I have been stretched too thin the last few weeks and work is a little too much all hands on deck right now. It sucks but I am going to have to make the trip to see the best ballpark in America one of these days.

Just curious, but was Vitello like this before last season? This is his 5th season and I can only remember people talking about Tennessee being like this starting last year? Maybe I just wasn't paying attention.

He's always been this way. It's just that people only started to get butthurt when they got their asses kicked.
He called the Fresno State coach a meatstick in the 2020 series. Got ejected from another game and sold lemonade across the street.

I have a weird feeling Kentucky wins one of the games.

That’s just indigestion. It’ll pass.

Got it. Yeah nobody really pays attention to coaches who aren't winning.

Road to Hoover
Just focusing on the bottom of the conference.
8. Alabama/Mississippi State/South Carolina 9-12 .429
9. Alabama/Mississippi State/South Carolina 9-12 .429
10. Alabama/Mississippi State/South Carolina 9-12 .429
11. Florida 8-13 .381
12. Kentucky/Ole Miss/Missouri 7-14 .333
---
13. Kentucky/Ole Miss/Missouri 7-14 .333
14. Kentucky/Ole Miss/Missouri 7-14 .333
These 7 teams are all within 2 games of each other and I still think every one of them can make it to the NCAA tournament with a good run here in the last 3 weeks.
Here is each team's finishing schedule.
Bama: LSU, @ Auburn, Arkansas
State: Florida, @ A&M, Tennessee
Carolina: @ A&M, Kentucky, @ Florida
Florida: @ State, @ Mizzou, Carolina
Kentucky: Tennessee, @ Carolina, Auburn
Ole Miss: Mizzou, @ LSU, A&M
Mizzou: @ Ole Miss, Florida, @ UGa
Carolina, Florida and Missouri have 2 road trips left while the others only have one. Florida is the only team that has 3 teams from the bottom half of the SEC left to play. Bama has no teams from the bottom half of the SEC left on their schedule.
Just focusing on the bottom of the conference.

His first 2 years they were under .500 in SEC play. Hard to act like that when you're losing more than you're winning.

Looking forward to chucking some mustard bottles at the Vol batters this weekend.

This is actually a good thing for them. Its an opportunity to get some high-profile series wins in order to build their resume.

Hasn’t finished below 3rd in the East since 2018 which was his first year. Everyone is butthurt now that he has lapped the field and rubbing your fat noses in it.

Congrats?

Can you claim to have lapped the field if you haven't actually won anything of significance?
