And we go into the break down 6-9, do you think it plays out differently or were they just too good? That last 3 was a real dagger imo. We might have lost regardless, but I think we are competitive the rest of the way if Lykes doesn't totally take us out of the game.

I don't think it mattered. It was going to be Duke's night since we let them shoot over 50% the whole game.

There were at least 10 points they scored where we played great defense. A team playing like that was going to beat us all season. It was our kryptonite. We play great defense and count on teams not being able to hit hard shots because we for sure don't have the offense to keep up with it. Tonight we finally ran into a team that hit enough hard shots.

They were better. I wasn't even mad last night. I realized early in the 2nd half that we didn't have the same type of horses running the race that Duke had.

Next year will be chock full of sexiness. We should be pretty salty.

This. Duke was knocking down contested shots.

Wouldn’t have mattered. That Duke squad is strong. They were the better team.

Next year the grown men arrive, and throw in a few guys with experience, and we will be just as salty as Duke.

Getting help for JWill is crucial and if that means telling folks like Vanover they need to go play at Lyon to make space so be it.

Duke shot over 50% from the field
40% from three and 90% from the charity stripe, so the answer is no.

This.

We need bigs in the portal, especially since our class is comprised of combo guards and point forwards.

Those of you that were alive and can remember the UNLV/Arkansas series…That’s what last night felt like. I was young young, but remember.

Muss needs to go find us a couple men.

We don’t really have a great shooter. If Toney comes back and any of the guys coming in next year can shoot, I say we go further.

Just imagine this would have been Isiah Joe’s senior year and could come back next year for a Covid year.

Larry Johnson told nolan, you have a bunch of boys. You need some men.

Didn't feel the same to me and I was in Barnhill when we hosted.

It just boils down to the fact that Duke has a team full of shooters and they were on last night.

Our strengths all season were driving the lane and shooting free throws. We missed a ton of point blank shots last night and we didn't get to the FT line enough.

On the bright side we should have a nice mix of veteran players to go with our incoming class and the odds are in our favor that some of these guys can shoot the ball from outside with some consistency.

Which is where we were last night. We couldn’t compete with their size down low. Their Williams kid was too big and bulky. They out rebounded us by a large margin in the first half. That was the difference IMO. We need someone with size to compliment JWill.

Did for me.

Duke had men down low. We had JWill and then 6’6” string beans in comparison. They had 7’+ and 6’10” of athleticism who is NBA ready.

Duke had 27 defensive rebounds. We only had 8 offensive rebounds. Needing shooters is a small portion of what the team needed last night. Overall, we still shot 42% from the field, not terrible and certainly good enough to win. We even turned them over 15 times.

Muss needs to go at it like Nolan did post UNLV…get some bigs who can score occasionally but can control the paint.

Sneak in Oliver Miller, Steven Hill and Arkansas wins that game LOL.

Arkansas needs a couple of more 6-9/6-10 guys. Besides the Vermont game, Arkansas was undersized but fortunately NMST and Gonzaga didn't have athletic bigs and the Arkansas guard play overwhelmed them. The scripted flipped with Duke.

We agree here for sure.

I guess the more I think about it, Justin Smith was shorter, but he definitely played like a man inside. Williams doesn't play as physical.

Hopefully Muss can pull some bigs through the portal.

Y’all keep saying big, big, big.

Yea we’re short like a body or two but that didn’t feel like the real problem. We still rebounded okay down the stretch and Williams wasn’t nearly as dominant in the second half.

It’s shot makers that We’re severely lacking. We have basically 2.5 guys on any given night that are able to get a bucket for us between Notae, Umude and Williams. Everyone else has to be created for and Devo just isn’t quite there.

Williams was off last night, Notae was pretty off and that only leaves Stanley who was pretty damn good last night.

We turned them over a ton. They just had Roach, Moore, Griffen and Banchero having their way getting high % shots.

Sucks to lose to that sanctimonious charlatan but it is what it is.

Bring in one more decent player at 6-9 and we will be fine. Our team played tough as hell and brought it back. I don’t think it’s a “men” thing, it’s just more talent.

Duke is going to win it all.
