you have a point - but I am willing to guess that if the situation was reversed I bet AU would have had a foul called on them...

on UF's last possesion how in the WORLD was a foul not called on Castleton on his pushoff????

And close to the end, not the very last possession, there was a play where I was 100% sure Castelton went Over the Back, they blew the whistle… and called JWill for a defensive foul instead

They are definitely going to be frustrating to watch at times...and some players more than others. I just don't see much consistency coming from this team but they are scrappy and don't seem to mind playing in tight games. They will make you feel optimistic one game and bubble team the next. It's going to be tough on the fans this year but as long as Bruce gets them to March, I'm good with it. Next years recruiting/transfer class will be very important to bounce back into the upper tier of the league.

For a long time now I’ve said Auburn has sorely missed Coach Person. I am adjusting my stance: Coach Pearl needs to start firing his staff until he finds someone that can teach our players how to shoot.

Devan Cambridge: 46% from 3 this year with decent volume

Come on, pussy. Give me your downvotes

I’ve been saying the same. If you play at AU and in the offseason you don’t go work with Chuck Person on the side you sho is dumb.

Did Person have multiple years with Bryce Brown? or any? I can't remember the timeline at all.

In any event the Rifleman is up there with the best shooters of all time. So much fun to watch.

Yes and all the very good 3 shooters we have had lately. Since his departure everyone but Jabari have been poor at consistently shooting the 3 ball.

And no there is no way we can bring him back or steer players to go see him. We definitely need a shot doctor in some kind of way even if they aren’t an assistant

Could Bryce Brown be the answer here?

I feel like KD, Zep, & Flan are the same players they've always been. Zero development beyond where they started.

I'm also no expert, so...
We have average guard play. Unless something changes, winning a game in the NCAA tourney would be expected and an accomplishment.

Any team that can apply on ball pressure will make us struggle to score.

I was with the team for Bryce’s first year as a student manager. Rebounded for him quite a bit in the gym. He worked with his dad almost exclusively but really didn’t work too hard his freshman year. Drove BP insane. He did show up a very good natural shooter though. Which, to me, is more the problem than needing some kind of a shot doctor. We don’t recruit good shooters. Harper showed up a very good shooter too. So did Purifoy.

Shot doctor would be nice but it’s not the main issue.

Mclemore and Okeke definitely improved their shooting significantly in their time at Auburn. I know Okeke worked with Person some in the off-season (the year after Person was canned) but Mclemore didn’t.

It does seem like Bruce has put a lot of stock in defense and athleticism recently. Obviously some exceptions in there with Cooper and Jabari, but hopefully Aden is a sign of putting a focus back on guys that can already shoot.

Yeah and he has just missed on several transfers that could shoot. Jamal Johnson was a legitimate shooter but couldn’t do anything else. Powell could shoot but couldn’t hack it auburn mentally

The thing about shooting is that having a couple really good shooters on the court makes the decent shooters better at shooting too. They go from shooting contested shots to shooting wide open shots. I’m convinced if WG had better floor spacing around him he could be a 37-38% shooter but as it is he is a 30% guy. I think the same goes for a couple other guys on our current roster to a lesser extent as well.

While that might be the reason he left Auburn. The kid played for 3 different high schools and is on his 3rd college. It's safe to say he (or his parents) have some contentment issues.

Forgot about him. his statline at Hawaii was something else. Every time I look up the guy to see what we're missing, makes me feel good.

Miss State and Auburn are going to be some weird games. Just be glad we're not them.
