That fool Stephen M. Smith is looking for attention. Saban has done more to empower Black coaches than this bastard who wrote this ever will. I tell Black folks all the time the Black folks that get up in the media talking about Black folks need to hired for this and that job are working for the White folks who don't want you to have shite. And, the White folks they are working for are White liberals.

I’m white, I think we should recruit more white players in all sports.

is this headline actually true?

quote:

Nick Saban has had one black primary coordinator in his entire coaching career: It’s time to change that

That cannot be true right?

And I'm not sure what "primary coordinator" means, if he is just narrowing the gap to OC / DC

Why isn't Smith attacking the Steeler's HC Tomlin, a black who has never had a black coordinator?

Unlike what others in society may do, Saban obviously knows how to be successful and chooses not based by color but rather by criteria he knows will win.

I'm drawing a blank on who that OC/DC was.

Didn't Mel Tucker have the title of "assistant head coach" at Bama for at least one season?

Head coach at Maryland was OC under Saban.

He goes on and on about how great Locksley was making it sound like Saban ran him off....He got a power 5 head job. That's kinda the goal right?

I'd say Saban knows way more about hiring assistants than Stevie Smith.

Smith is totally right if the black coordinators are the best hire for the job.

For whatever it is worth, I think Saban recognizes that a lot of young, promising black coaches get typecast as position coach recruiters and don’t progress in their career. That is why he joined a relatively new association/committee to get more opportunities for black coaches to progress through the system.

Reckon this is a good dead season article for a sports writer but Saban seems to be pretty clued into whats going on with opportunity for minorities in the coaching profession.

Alabama had co-OCs in 2018. Both were black. Mike Locksley and Josh Gattis.

Sure let’s make skin color THE leading factor in hiring someone always works out well.

How many AA coaches from Saban’s coaching tree are HC’s right now?
