We have shrimpy guards with no length. We get shut down with teams who have length. The NCAA Tourney is all about guard play and we don't have it. Green also doesn't have a handle. He's a TO machine like Flan. I'd love to be wrong.

Thank you for this much needed thread. Your bravery in echoing what many on here and the rant are saying after being 24-3, first in the league, with the three losses being by a combined 11 points and 3 OT’s is without a doubt noted and appreciated.

We will hang this one on my refrigerator along with the ones from 18/19 where some were saying we weren’t even making the tournament after losing by 20+ to UK on this same weekend.

Maybe we sneak in the tournament and get lucky and get a win.

Did we peak to soon? Possibly. Are we gonna win some more games absolutely. If we lost the first round this is still an incredible season. We have a couple issues to get corrected and if we can I see no reason we can’t make a deep run. At the end of the year there will only be 1 team standing. We have the opportunity to do that is it likely? Probably not but I can’t point to many other teams that I would think it is likely for either. Need to get hot scoring, play strong defense, have a few calls go your way, a little luck and that’s who will win the whole thing. I want a championship as much as the next fan but don’t let possibly not making it or possibly losing earlier then expected take away from what has already been accomplished. And we ain’t done yet.

Also Bruce’s first season was the 14-15 season where we are compared to the Barbee years and historically is night and day. We were the conference doormat. AU or UGA historically were the 2 worst teams in the conference. Now we are battling each year for top 2. This year regardless of end of season outcome will pay off big for the future of AU basketball. Get on the train and enjoy it and stop worrying so damn much don’t care the amount of success I’m just happy to be here. I’m gonna enjoy it.

Someone post the captain obvious gif about having short guards. And we will continue to have short guards. It’s Bruce’s philosophy. Short guards and bouncy wing players. Stretch 5’s.

Its not popular, but we're going to get turned over by better guards. Teams who have length give us huge issues. UF isn't really not that good but they have long guards that turned us over 17 times. Green doesn't have a good handle and Zep is limited. JD is a microwave but a one-trick pony. NCAA tourney is guard play and we don't have it.

We threw 5 balls into the stands that had nothing to do with guard length. We had 2 turnovers where we anticipated our player cutting to the basket and stopped so that’s 7 of the 17. Can’t specifically remember any of the others but if we just had better instincts on the day and better execution on the skip passes against the zone, it was the right passes just poorly executed and by 3 different players. 2 of which are tall guards Flanigan and Cambridge. So if we only turned it over 10ish times we win by 10. We turned it over 17 and lost.

But yes our guards will struggle against long guards that are good on defense. UF is just one of the few teams that can do that. They are not a great matchup for us. We are not a good matchup for UK. It’s how basketball is. All about matchups and we matchup very well against most teams.

And I’m not questioning anyones basketball knowledge but we are a defensive team. We played good defense yesterday. Just got nothing from anyone but Kessler and Smith. Our experienced players don’t need to try to do to much but they need to step up and do the little things to win games. Cambridge, Flanigan, and JayWill.

Let’s just look around the league for example.. who has better guards? UK? Probably but they are always hurt. And Wheeler is short.
UT? I personally like their guards better but Chandler and ZZ are both freshmen and under 6 feet and aren’t really that much better than ours. Also, they just scored 48 on the road in their last game.
Bama? Conventional wisdom would probably say yes but they don’t defend well and Green absolutely torched them at their place and we certainly had no issues with them at home.
I like our guards better than anybody else in the league for sure. I say this to say our guards aren’t elite but most teams don’t have elite guards. And ours are competitive as hell and certainly hold their own.

I would say Green struggles a bit with contact and they let it go late in games. I know KD can have blinders on but I would rather him drive late than Green simply because he plays through contact a bit better. KD to his credit has driven and dished better the last two games. All in all we are a great team but we aren't an invincible team.

KD could’ve created contact and went to the FT line. He is that great of a weapon when we are only down one. He plays too fast which is probably preferable with only 7 seconds left..

Yeah w 7 seconds left KD could have gotten off 2 shots he so fast.

With the way Wendell is handling last possessions, I really think Bruce needs to try something else...like KD...

Wendell has gotten us a lot of good looks at the end of halves in similar scenarios but I agree with you regardless. If nothing else the end of game thing will probably be in his head now. If it’s heater skelter with no stoppage find KD. If there is a stoppage and we have enough time, give me a set for Jabari

Nobody knows what will happen in the Tourny but I love your negative arse comments because that’s what we need. Ok, we all agree with you. Our basketball team really isn’t that good. Post less or at least tell us how Alabama is going to win it all with their guard play. Nice job outing yourself. Great work

I think that some arenas have different lighting patterns or dimensions or something that causes the kinds of turnovers we had on Saturday

screwy depth perception
