Harsin is staying per Pete Thamel

The 7-8 year death certificate we signed when we extended Malzahn in 2017 will now be extended well beyond 2025. A 50-60th ranked recruiting class is probably the ceiling and no big transfers are going to come in the spring. We’ll be looking at a 6-6 season again.
This is something that the program potentially might not ever recover from and we’ll become the Nebraska of the SEC.

I fully supported Harsin staying day 1-3, after that I didn’t see how we can recover from negative press and recruiting. Now, we just shite our pants in front of everyone and asked them to come look.

If he goes it’ll be the same thing.
This is a total frick up. I hope something bad, really bad comes out about Harsin to show this was necessary. Because if this is just booster BBQ dick swinging, then supporting Auburn football is and always will be a total waste of time.

There’s no recovering in recruiting. 2023 is the most loaded the state of Alabama has been in the last 25+ years and we’re probably not going to sign a single on of the top 15 players if he’s retained. 11 of the players are in the top 100 according to 247.

Harsin is arrogant enough to think it won’t be an issue lol. The Auburn reporters and insiders were fed a line of complete shite. What a joke the program will be the next few years.

It's pathetic that Thamel would be the one to know this before anyone else.
frick this administration.

If he thinks he can outwork and outcoach his competition in the SEC, he is certifiably insane. Not only do Saban and most of the other coaches work the teams as hard or harder than Harsin, they can coach players up and have 4 and 5 star players to work with. He is out of his league.
Auburn football will no longer be what we have grown up with. It will be back to somewhat like the Barfield years when I was a little kid. Maybe worse. We joked about the roller coaster, but we have gotten off the coaster now. There is no top of the hill coming.
This is really disappointing. I will support the players and cheer them on, but I will not expect much at all. The fall will be a frustrating time for years to come.
All of you that have been white knighting for Harsin and throwing Auburn people under the bus, I hope you are happy. Auburn fans really amaze me sometimes.
Harsin will use what just went down as an excuse for his crappy coaching and recruiting that we already knew was awful. We will see through his excuses. The Harsin lovers will not and they will defend him until it is too late and we are in football hell.

Recruiting sucked pretty bad before any of this came to light. I think we would be dog shite for the next few years regardless of whether there were any allegations of mistreating employees and players.

What an embarrassment this has been. Auburn is losing fan support over this

Count me among the minority (at least on this board) to have an optimistic view at least for the next 12-24 months. I'll enjoy the miracle we have going on in basketball and will hope for success on the football field when the time comes.
Programs can negatively recruit because of this, but Harsin will have a clear answer for them. "It was a witch hunt." The guy knows how to coach football and current players recognize that and will attest to that.
If he fails, he fails, and we move on. If he succeeds, it will be the single biggest F you to the boosters since I don't know when, and he will likely have much more, if not full, support at that point.
My two cents. Bring on the downvotes.
ETA: From what I have seen (on social media at least), Harsin has far more fan support than many of you realize.

Okay I'm melting. I have always heard people say winning football games becomes less important as you get older. I never subscribed to that line of thought before. I get it now. Gonna find it hard to invest as much time and money in this sport going forward.

maybe they didn't want to give Jokanson and insiders an exclusive after how they dragged him and all of Auburn's internal problem external making it way worse than it had to be.

It’s going to take us many many years to ever get back to being a decent football team again. frick Harsin and frick our BOT and frick Green for hiring him.

I normally do not trust Thamel, but since he and Hars are buddies, then I am sure this is true.

We’ve got 73 scholarship players, a horrific offensive line, a below average backup QB transfer from Texas A&M, and absolutely no outlook to land any top 250 players in recruiting next season.
He has no chance of succeeding.
