Truth about A&M

First the negative. We have never done ANYTHING a all that relevant in college football. Ever.
Sure, we have had a few flashes in the pan and come close a couple of times. But that’s it really.
So one would have to ask WHY is all the hand wringing here?
TRUTH. This is it.
While A&M hasn’t done anything of note yet, their potential is monumental. They have enormous amounts of cash and can buy anything they want. Also, their network with alumni is second to none and their fans can legitimately influence games at Kyle when they are close to decent.
So what does this mean? Simple really. It’s in most of college footballs best interest for the status quo at A&M to remain. No one wants to have to deal with 2 Texas teams that are legitimate title contenders on a regular basis.
So that’s where we are. A&M has shown signs of actually being what they should be. They aren’t there yet. Don’t get me wrong. But just the mere possibility that they could be scares the absolute piss out of many people.
Maybe I am way off base, but I don’t think this is just a homer view. I think there is some truth to this.

LOL explain why you haven’t yet. It’s been a fricking decade of the same bloviation from you clowns and yet, you’ve won nothing and no one is intimidated by Kyle Stadium at Blue Bell Field.

The instant NIL came into play, collie dogs gained a huge advantage. They just have the money….
I personally think Jimbo with continue to squander talent. If they are committed to finally getting a championship they can buy one, but It will
Include a Jimbo buyout first.
Saban won’t stand for the deck to be stacked against him. As much as I hate him, he is the only one with the power and influence that can level the field with NIL. He either does that or retires

Saban doesn’t have power over the Supreme Court. It. Will. Stay. This. Way.
Conferences will try to change it and players will sue. And will win.
And yes, it will cause coaches and teams to withdraw from football.
We have entered the semi pro league era. I wish it was like the good ole days, but it isn’t ever going back.
So you either learn to deal with NIL and the transfer portal and the free agency it creates, or you lose.
Adapt or die.

Whenever a change happens you can bet those that like the status quo will complain the loudest.

Does anyone brag about money more than the Texas A&M fanbase? Damn.

Respectfully, not bragging. Or at least that wasn’t my intention. The point was to illustrate how other teams actually feel about A&M’s money and to note the fear that is out there.

While I agree that semi-pro is the new normal in college sports, to believe that it will stay the same as it is in this first year is asinine.

A good question. A&M lives in a state with tons of legitimate schools to go to. LSU and. Bama have far less schools in their states as options. So, that’s the best I have as to why.
A&M has changed a lot in 20 years. It was always a friendly school but the alumna never really spent the money they should to be successful.
That’s changed over the past decade and a half. So much so that Texas now finds itself behind A&M for the first time, like ever.
Will A&M actually turn the corner? Who knows? I hope so. If they do, they will be very good for a long time. But it’s entirely possible they don’t.

How can it possibly change? Please explain.
These are students. They are not employees. The entire non profit nature of the NCAA would crumble if you had players under contract. And university presidents would absolutely NOT change that due to the cash cow football is.
The NCAA first and foremost wants to protect its profit structure.
I see a new league forming outside the NCAA. That’s the only way. And that’s gonna be years or decades away.
