Every year since 2016 Bama has been without several key players toward the end of the season.

How good would those 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 teams have been at full strength going into the last few games of the years.

Is it just bad luck? S&C program? Field turf or conditions? The football gods trying to even the playing field?

I think they need to sacrifice someone to the football Gods.

Losing your top two WR to non-contact knee injuries just feels like shite luck. I’ll let smarter folks than me talk turf but that obviously seems to be a focus.

This is why I’m against the 12 team playoff. We are arguably the deepest team in the country every year and it seems like we are mash unit by years end…even when we win it all. We’ll end up with champions that are just survivors instead of the best team.

I had hoped the new S&C guys would have helped to alleviate that some. New techniques and training, flexibility, etc.

Doesn't appear to be the case.

How come other teams aren't losing players like we do?

Good point. It feels like Bama gets hit harder with injuries than any other team on a consistent basis. The Saban era has been marred with numerous injuries and cost us several games over the years as it is the ultimate neutralizer. Auburn 2017 and 2019 come to mind and losing Scarborough against Clemson in 2016 directly changed that game.

Meanwhile UGA had ZERO...ZERO significant injurites going into and during last nights game. I believe they lost a starting OL early in the season for the year but that was it. Unfair and neutralizes the talent disparity.

Yea you see way more non-contact injuries like that on turf than you do on grass. I don’t know why that is but it is.

So...it wasn't all Cochran's fault after all.

The hard hitting practices CNS preaches take their toll on the players’ bodies. By the end of the year, they’re just more prone to injuries.

And, we shouldn’t change a thing when it comes to that. Maybe adjust some S&C philosophies to prevent non-contact injuries.

I think you’re right about that. It’s a double-edged sword.

In 18 we played 6 receivers basically all year. Ridley, Foster, Sims and the three freshman. They would rotate. This year we played Jamo, Metchie and Slade all the meaningful snaps. I assume they got all the meaningful practice reps. I know it’s not realistic to go two deep at every position but receiver is definitely doable. Expand the rotation, fewer miles on those guys late in the season.

Yeah but these are the same practices he held in 2007 thru now. Heck he may be even more careful with contact practices than he was in 2007. We had 7 guys out last night with season ending injuries (6 then unfortunately got 1 added). 7 key contributors, that's an extremely high number. No one has this kinda luck.

Roger that. Noticed this tweet from Santonio Holmes on Jamo's injury:
