Christmas is a great day because it's about the birth of Jesus. Unfortunately it's been hijacked by greed.

If you are emptying your bank account on Christmas presents you need to work on a budget my man.
We pay for ours with a portion of money we get from cash back credit cards. Lol

This!!! Christmas has become much too commercialized. It's supposed to be about celebrating to birth of jesus with friends and family remembering whats truly important in life. It's become all about gifts/black friday sales. A few years ago I stopped buying all the adults in my family gifts. Just the kids. As for me...I don't need anything but good health and loved ones. I'm blessed enough to buy what I need when I need it. Merry Christmas!!

It does this year for us. We don't have children, and we had to put our one remaining dog down a couple of days ago because of cancer. It's a sad day in my household. I'll be glad when it ends.

Correct. Find the calm within the chaos.

Christmas is a pagan holiday of the winter solstice that was incorporated by the Roman church to bring Pagans into Christianity.
The date, Dec 25th has been a holiday long before Jesus.
The Christmas tree has nothing to do with Jesus, it was also taken from the same pagan holiday.
And many of the other traditions really have nothing to do with Jesus either. This is also true of Easter and most other Christian holidays.
The first people to try and get rid of all this stuff weren't liberals, it was...Christians who knew it was a pagan holiday and tried to remove it. That was hundreds of years ago.
All that said, Merry Christmas and the OP should be thankful to have family to spend it with and to have them there. Beyond all the holiday crap, it's a time when families come together and there isn't a damn thing wrong with that.

I hate Christmas. Worst abomination of a holiday ever. Go to church. Remember Jesus. Eat a nice meal and have some libations then go to bed. Not all THIS shite.

I love Christmas. Get to see the joy in my daughter's face as she opens her gifts. Also reminds me of how much I hate the ungrateful fricks known as in-laws as well as reminding me of how much I enjoy bourbon. Have to be careful though because of I enjoy the bourbon to much I may tell the in-laws what I really think of them so Christmas also teaches me the importance of moderation.

yes, yes he is....
The winter solstice was a pagan party. ANd the birth of Christ most likely was earlier in the year via historical accounts, and events during the birth...
Christians tried to take something evil and purify it, until corporate greed took over and made it "Happy Holidays" in stead.
Foolish folks, Christmas come from the biblical words meaning Christ (Lord and Savior" and Mass "the Eucharist" or Lord's Supper...
Happy Holiday, Holiday literally means, "Holy Day" and the bible has something to say about making one day holier than another...
Well done gents, well done and Merry Christmas!

I prefer to think of it as a celebration of capitalism.

It’s not about “going broke for kids”, but regardless, I hope you have a good one.
Tell your kids I’m sorry their parent is so greedy.
