College Football Now vs Then - Pros vs Cons

Pros:
-You can catch any game you want on TV in HD.
-There is at least an attempt to crown a national champion (vs when #1 was playing in Rose & #2 in the Sugar)
Cons:
- Any tackle beyond 2 hand touch is subject to targeting and ejection.
- Transfer Portal
- Coaches of Blue Bloods whoring themselves out every year to the highest bidder. (Riley, Kelly etc).
The days of Bear, Woody, Switzer being at a blue blood for life appear to be over.
- The uniqueness of the game when it was truly regional.
Rosters were overwhelmingly made up of players from the home state. (Texas, Ohio, Florida, California).
Games had more of a regional pride to them, now players at the blue bloods are full of players from coast to coast.
- Sky rocketing ticket prices
- The corporatization of the game day experience
- The crackdowns on tailgating at many schools
- NIL

I started to add that, but wasn't sure if it was widespread.
I guess it is.

Con-
The targeting rule as it is currently implemented.
Having reviews that last too long and still
sometimes don't make sense or seem accurate m.
Eta I’m not sure what the m is at the end but I’ll leave it.

It really sucks in Athens if you don't have a parking pass and prices are ridiculous.
Tailgating was far better in the "old days" not only for college games but for MLB/NFL .The parking lot at old Atlanta stadium was huge and tailgating was half of the "in game" experience

Parking, poor home schedules and never knowing what time kick off will be is the main reason I gave it up after four plus decades!

Money eventually ruins all good entertainment.

Can't hear the band. I took my uncle for the first time to a home game. He was complaining how loud the music was. I told him you learn to not focus on how loud it is and ignore it. But I get irritated because I have to yell in a conversation. This was an hour before kickoff.

When espn started televising in 1984, college football started bleeding to death. ABC was doing just fine.
Ou/Georgia vs the ncaa ruling didn't help either.

Hate seeing the Tailgate Guys and corporate tailgates becoming more common.

These 3 will change college football into a whole new thing. For better or worse the college sport we grew up with is dead. Let’s see if the new thing is better. But there’s no putting pandora back in the box now

Well, in the "old" days your Gators didn't get blown out by random directional schools.
Should I add that to the list?

Do what? Yea,CFB was just "doing just fine" when your team was limited to two or three appearances a year and the NCAA controlled the TV rights and money.

It was one of the best things to happen to CFB especially in the south.
