Greetings, tRant.
Here are some interesting facts about the SEC's favorite bowl game: the Sugar Bowl.
- Alabama has appeared in the most Sugar Bowls, with 16 appearances, and LSU is second with 13.
- On January 1, 2022, Ole Miss will be appearing in its 10th Sugar Bowl, and Baylor will be appearing in its 3rd.
- Alabama has the most Sugar Bowl victories, with 9. LSU, Georgia, and Ole Miss are tied in second place with 6 victories. If Ole Miss beats Baylor at this season's Sugar Bowl, it will be in sole possession of the second most Sugar Bowl wins in history.
- Tulsa, Tulane, Santa Clara, Boston College, Fordham, Navy, Air Force, Carnegie Tech, Cincinnati, Hawai'i, Illinois, Saint Mary's, Temple, and Wyoming have all played in the Sugar Bowl.
- Mississippi State has never played in the Sugar Bowl, nor has South Carolina or Vanderbilt. Every other current or former SEC team has.
- Despite being the second-winningest program in SEC history, Tennessee hasn't played in a Sugar Bowl in 30 years.
- LSU, Georgia, Florida, Auburn, and Arkansas have losing records in the Sugar Bowl. Notably, Arkansas is 1-5 in the Sugar Bowl. Yikes.

Cowbells in a dome sounds fricking miserable, so maybe it's for the best.

Did you know
1963 season Coach Bryant booted Joe Willie from the team with Bama headed to the Sugar Bowl to play Ole Miss.
Steve Sloan guided the Tide to a victory 12-7 victory in the snow in New Orleans.

Weird that Wyoming has played in the Sugar Bowl.

I can’t imagine they’d be allowed in the dome. Were they able to take them in the Orange Bowl in 2014?

I can’t even imagine how loud that would be.
But, yes, we were allowed to bring them to the orange bowl.

Pretty interesting
"Sugar picks Wyoming"

The Sugar Bowl didn't get the SEC champion at that point. LSU finished 6th in the SEC behind Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss and Georgia.
- #2 Tennessee went to the Orange Bowl against #3 Oklahoma

- Ole Miss went to the Sun Bowl against UTEP

3 of the four bowls, Sugar,Rose and Orange were on NBC. The Cotton was on CBS. ABC didn't pick up the Sugar until the Ole Miss-Arkansas game following the '69 regular season.

Nope. The BCS championship games for the 2007 and 2011 seasons as well as the CFP Championship game for the 2019 season were not Sugar Bowl games.

Bowls are just exhibitions and aren't taken seriously.

And LSU had already been voted #1 in both the AP and Coaches before the Jan 59 Sugar Bowl.

69 season was weird. Tenner won the SEC but played in the Gator. And the Sugar chose 5th place Ole Miss over 2nd place LSU.
