The most hilarious thing is when UGA fans say “Kirby makes millions as a coach, I trust his decisions, Kirby knows best!” So how do the opinions of NFL GMs and NFL coaches stack up against Kirby’s when Kirby decided it was better to start a future career NFL back up over a top 15 NFL pick? I am Fromm fan and Kirby’s recruiting ability has taken UGA to another level but the QB position has been an enigma for Smart and he hasn’t shown the ability to adjust or play the best player. Saban changed the QB two times in the two games they came back to win against UGA because he knew a change was needed. Why can’t Kirby have the same insight? What would it have hurt to play JT in the second half of the SEC Championship game?
Do you know for sure the real reason why JT has not been playing?

Beck could have done the same thing Stet did, and at least now we’d have a better talent that actually gained some meaningful experience.
There you have it. Beck would have lost the game but would have been the better QB than Stetson Bennett IV.

Lmfao. You really think losing is losing? How you lose matters. We got waxed. We’ve agreed we have to majorly change the defensive game plan in a potential rematch, but you think trotting out that QB again is acceptable. I bet you wanna see more William Poole too.

If you refer to my post it was in reference to what could have been if Kirby stuck with Beck as QB2. Didn’t have much to do with JT.

But he didn't, he went with Stetson instead, for some reason. And went 12-0 for some reason.

My bad, are you of the opinion that Beck is better than Bennett?
Posted on 12/20/21 at 4:55 pm to Peter Buck
I’m of the opinion that we would have the exact same record right now if either Beck or Bennett started every game since Clemson but with 12 games starting Beck could be ahead of where Stetson is now. I’m of the opinion that we’ve seen Bennet’s ceiling and I don’t think it’s high enough unless our defense plays great.

What makes you think Beck would have been as or more successful?

Can’t be more successful as a team than 12-0.

Aside from Clemson, we didn’t play a game that was ever much in doubt. My point is we knew last year what Stetson’s ceiling and limitations were, but we turned to him this year I guess because he was the “safe” option. I’ll give you that he played better this year, but at the end of the day he’s a slightly built quarterback with a limited skillset and questionable decision making. Beck could have been better. The same. Or worse. I’d rather know for sure than stick with “safe” guy

No. We knew last year what THE TEAMS limits were without a mature offense and a defense just starting to gel. Last year Monken had a QB (not named Stetson Bennett IV) to develop an offense for that left the team a couple of weeks before the season started. Then we had a backup QB that was totally inept that got thrown in as the starter.
Luckily we had a 3rd string QB that knew the system very well but had not practiced with the offense all spring and summer. He saved us in the Arkansas game and was undefeated until he faced the #1 team and eventual NC winner. He then was injured in the Florida game or he might have led us to victory. Finally, JT was healthy enough to win against the weakest part of our 2020 schedule. We also had Carson Beck. Why did he not start any games? Can't be because he was a true freshman because we've started freshmen before.
THAT'S what we knew last year.
IF JT is healthy physically and mentally, then our HC and OC have a reason to not start him, and until they reveal it to us we should accept that they know what they are doing.

Yea just sucks Kirby hasn’t given him a decent QBs to run a good offense with, I could see him leaving after 3 years of Stetson
You don't think Monken has some say in what QBs are brought in, and which one starts?

The last game we played was a loss that involved a huge pick 6.
And 35 other points that weren't.

It was a potential 10 to 14 PT swing especially with how well our defense was playing at the time.A fifth year QB playing in a conference championship game should never be fooled like that and HAS to see the safety sitting on em.Bama forced him to take the hot read and he fell right into it.It was the worst possible play at the worst possible time.
If Bama holds on to the other pick
6 the game is pretty much over in the first half.

Losing IS losing. Without the pick 6 we would have lost by 10. So explain how that is not losing? We lost because our defense gave up 31 points in the 2nd quarter and the opening drive of the 3rd quarter. How many of those points are on Bennett?
Kirby has always had the tendency of slacking off on offense when we have a decent lead instead of keeping his foot on the gas pedal. Richt was the same. That has cost us games many times. Until our HC keeps his offense wide open until 4th quarter we will always risk losing against a team like Alabama, or Michigan.

You don't know this at all.It changed the momentum and complexity of the game and a inexcusable mistake by a 5th year QB.

Watch the Bama game from '20 and get back to me."Taking the foot off the gas" is the very last thing we did at the start of the 2nd half.We passed multiple times on first down and got away from the success we were having running the ball in the 1st half.

This isn't close to the reason we lost to Bama in the SECCG and Bennett can't be the QB you choose if you wanna keep the offense "wide open"

Without that pick 6, we would have had a chance to come back down 14, but the only qb we have that has proven he is capable of leading such a come back sits as a backup, so who knows.

Score was 31-17 when it happened. Game was only over after it happened.
