Other than on this board, I think most fans see it as a mutual respect deal.
I enjoy partying with LSU fans, eating their food, and giving each other shite.
We were tailgating at the game last year [2019] at BDS with a ton of LSU fans, and afterwards nearly everybody I spoke with back at the tent were mainly just relieved to have finally gotten that monkey off their back, and were elated about their chances going forward. Nothing disrespectful at all, at least in front of us, and we still partied together afterwards until they kicked us out.
I bring this up because I think there is an element of hatred with true rivalries, and I've just never felt that around this game (except on tRant, of course). Yeah, it sucks to lose, but it just feels different, if that makes sense.
I was actually rooting for LSU in the playoffs last year to bring it home for the SEC, and I would never do that for certain rivalry schools.
