All of the talk about Yankee coaches got me to thinking. Just where were the current SEC coaches born.
SEC East
Shane Beamer - Charleston, SC
Eli Drinkwitz - Norman, OK
Josh Heupel - Aberdeen, SD
Clark Lea - Nashville, TN
Billy Napier - Cookeville, TN
Kirby Smart - Montgomery, AL
Mark Stoops - Youngstown, OH
SEC West
Jimbo Fisher - Clarksburg, WV
Bryan Harsin - Boise, ID
Brian Kelly - Everett, MA
Lane Kiffin - Lincoln, NE
Mike Leach - Susanville, CA
Sam Pittman - El Reno, OK
Nick Saban - Fairmont, WV
Oops I screwed up on Mark Stoops, I had Mike Stoops. Sorry.

And raised in Bainbridge, GA
Kirby's more country in his left testicle than the rest of the SEC combined.

Damn. Didn’t realize we hired a new coach. Just assumed it was an extension when the headline read Stoops

If you've been around you can tell generally where most of them grew up by the way they talk. Most of them

Interesting, I don't remember Pittman being from Oklahoma.
He went to school in Kansas, right?

Nope, 8 out of 14 are from the South.
Western OK has a (shockingly) western flair. Northern WV has a (shockingly) northern / Appalachian flair.
However, you can find southern accents, hospitality, cuisine, sweet tea, music, mannerisms, and Baptist churches in the majority of either state.
Oklahoma has produced Blake Shelton, Reba McEntire, and Garth Brooks, among others. It’s definitely the South. I know people from West Virginia. They’re definitely Southern.
Moonlight and magnolias while sipping a mint julep on the banks of the Charleston River type of Southern? No, but that doesn’t apply to 99% of the South.
Trust me, there is not much distinguishing an ol’ boy from Louisiana and ones from Oklahoma or WV.
Edit: Have you ever heard Sam Pittman speak? Don’t tell me that baw ain’t Southern.
