He is having a great year so far. He fills the gaps in the running game and is bringing the pain at the point of attack. Been awhile since we had a linebacker play this well.
Hopefully Trezman Marshall will improve and give us a mean tandem on the inside.

I don't think anyone is having a great year so far tbh

At least compared to the last four years, the defense is having a great season (thus far).

It's amazing what happens when you have a competent ILB coach

I think Trez can be competent, but I think jihaad is the future. That dude passes every eye test. He added some really good size, and I am pretty high on him. He also played some Saturday and from what I can tell did fine.

After a second watch of the game, Jihaad played well and is more impactful than Marshall IMO. He made multiple tackles behind the line and closed on the QB well on that fumble he and Dallas Turner forced. There were some things he could have done better but that will come with additional reps. He and Lawson in the middle could be real good going forward.
I was also impressed with Damon Payne and James Smith. Payne looked strong in run defense and Smith looked very disruptive in his snaps. I actually thought the interior guys as a whole played well. OLBs needed to wrap up and tackle better last game once the play broke down.

Ok so my eyes didn't deceive me. It was hard to make heads or tales with the way the camera was during the game. That really sucked. I think our D has a good bit of promise honestly.

If I'm not mistaken, Marshall was the one that blew his coverage on Texas's tight end in the fourth quarter that lead to a touchdown. He ran to the flats to cover the RB when the RB was clearly already being covered by Moore(I think). TE ran right past him wide open.

You’re correct funky. Marshall has been a step slow a few times and is waiting for running backs to get to him. He has to start shooting the gaps.

There were three in one spot, it was Moore and one other DB
I'm not sure what was going on with that play
