Could Nebraska really leave the big10?

Nebraska out
They might be going elsewhere. This riff is getting ugly fast. If I were Nebraska I’d be reaching out to my old big12 contacts to see about potentially re-joining. As for the SEC, we already have Missouri why not snag a blue blood in Nebraska? Don’t try to say geography matters.

Yes, they can get out of their contract for this one season if they claim force majeure.

I’ve learned that blue blood is only a good term if you are OU/OSUBama.
All the others are dinosaurs.
Nebraska isn’t coming back to their glory days. I do t care if Scott frost get 5 Orlando/Tampa commits a year. They won’t be good enough.

Nebraska to the SEC makes no sense. Nebraska to a super conference made up of the SEC, ACC, Big 12ish, and a couple of independent/orphans makes a lot of sense

OU is a dinosaur dude they haven’t won shite since 2000.

This could get quite interesting because that means any of those other Big10 schools could do the same.
This whole situation being so ugly in public screams Nebraska is going to leave- if they have a landing spot in the Big 12, SEC, or ACC.

Geography matters. At least Missouri borders other SEC states.

I would, who wants to be in the same conference as Rutgers?

Correct, any school that would like to play ball but is in a conference that canceled their season could get out of their contract for the season and play with what ever conference would take them, or form their own independent league.

Read this morning the Big 10 split is around 55 million per...The Big 12 split is around 35 million. If close to anywhere true Nebraska isn't going anywhere.

For the Big XII, on the other hand, they could take Nebraska right now, plug them in to a 10 game round robin, and worry about getting a 12th team for 2021 (taking a mid-major like UH or Cincinnati would be a lot more palatable if Nebraska was the other expansion partner).
Nebraska joined the Big 10 in order to have a home for all their sports. If the Big 10 isn't playing football, in an environment where other leagues are (and Big 10 members are having in person classes), I think the Big 10 would have a hard time that proving Nebraska is breaching their agreement by leaving, as, from Nebraska's view, it's the Big 10 that's failing to perform. Might require a little lawyering to set it up right (send a letter to each Big 10 school on the schedule saying that Nebraska expects them to perform their obligation to play as scheduled), but it would be a pretty strong argument.

Nebraska borders Missouri which is an SEC state.

turnpike, you need to stop posting period. Some of your replies in the Blue Blood thread are ridiculous as you clearly have no clue about the overall history of college football.
Oklahoma may be on a NC drought of twenty years but they are clearly not a dinosaur. Four CFP games and three BCSNCG appearances from 2003-2019 is hardly a dinosaur.
Your "dinosaur" is labeled for programs like Nebraska, Tennessee, Michigan, Minnesota, and Miami at this point.

link to their contract?
But I think it was reported when the big conference shakeups happened that one of the keys was schools had to sign away their tier 3 rights to the various conferences/conference networks.
So even if Nebraska left, BIG would still own their tier 3 rights and be able to broadcast baseball, softball, etc. and yet not have to share the revenue with NU that the content generated.

the worst argument too. It mattered 50 years ago when conferences didn't care about money.

Give me a good reason as to why it actually matters.

The hot rumor this morning was that Nebraska and BYU/UCF would be targets or at least wanting in the Big 12.
Those additions would change the money per school, I have no idea by how much or if it would be enough for any party involved to pull the trigger, but one would think the money would at least move up from what the Big12 is currently pulling.

Ou is certainly not a dinosaur.
They’ve been relevant on their conference more so than anyone.
Compare their recruiting and Win loss results to the rest of the top ten and holler at me.

UCF makes sense for the B12. BYU not so much. Still think Houston should be the #1 target for the b12.
