I guess the NCAA is giving up. Check out this proposal. The schools will have direct control over NIL payments.

So for a school like Vandy, it's either pay or drop out of the SEC
The end result of something like this will be bad for college sports I'm afraid
It was better off when cheating happened under the table

Especially since 30k is the minimum amount. Texas and A&M will be able to flat out outbid anyone every year.

Because this system is working very well?

Schools will have to be better with their $. A large swath of SEC/Big 10 schools are bringing in north of $100 million. $3 million for a football roster ain’t bad.

But everything you spend on football must be matched to female sports.

And here lies the problem

Oh yeah, that made all the difference in the world... or absolutely none at all. We just see it more clearly now as opposed to the rampant speculation in the past about bagmen.
The same teams that were openly cheating to win are still paying, just paying much better.

I don't think this works like you might think. Guys, some of the highest NIL earners in college are women. Hot gymnasts and swimmers earning big bucks on instagram and other web sources. T&A still wins. Getting that NIL under license to the schools for redistribution will be huge.
Of course, this may mean your hallowed institutions of learning become some of the largest distributers of NSFW content known.

How would players NOT be considered employees under this proposal?
Current NIL rules provide a loophole, that this would appear to close
The proposal argues that due to the rigors of a potential 17-game schedule the players would need to be compensated. However half of their compensation would have to go to women's sports
Do Livvy Dunne and Caitlin Clark currently share their NIL money with male student-athletes at their respective schools?
Under the proposal, boosters will no longer direct funds to specific sports or projects thus allowing the school's administration to redistribute funds in a manner similar to our federal government.
Time to tell the NCAA where to go and create a new athletics association. Take the SEC, Big 10 and a handful of others and breakaway from the meddling incompetence of the NCAA Gestapo

quote:aggy will probably go nuts with that, but the flagship University doesn't aspire to be a football factory. The Longhorn football program exists because of the University of Texas, not the other way round. (Such as diploma mills like BloU)

So 150k cars are not a part of the deal? I think it’s public knowledge how much the Horn OL is making.
Also, I feel really sorry for the poors out there.
Goodbye Vandy, Missouri and that Miss Schools.

College football is ruined big time

I really don't think NIL is as big of an issue as people make it out to be. At one point the two top ranked DL in Louisiana this year were committed to A&M. One has since decommitted and is now expected to sign with LSU. He decommitted after Robinson left for Syracuse. If you believe the experts on our recruiting websites we offered comparable NIL packages to what A&M did. The difference was we didn't have a DL coach this year because we lost him to health issues and A&M had one of the best recruiters in the country at the position. The point I'm trying to make is that A&M could outspend LSU if they wanted to for a particular player, but at the end of the day the player's market value is what it is, and most teams are not going to over pay for a kid who has never played a down of college ball. Thus, a program like LSU can compete with A&M for certain players in a NIL world. Relationships with the coaches still matter in recruiting. It's not just about money.

This has nothing to do with NIL. When the school starts paying, there will be Title IX implications.
