Alamo was certain. Santa Anna (think bin Laden) showed the folks down there what was up with the Goliad Massacre. After that the folks in the Alamo knew what was about to happen and Santa Anna's lack of respect for military rules and code of conduct. Figure if they were about to die, take some of them with you.
