I think Kirby is a hard arse but loves them away from the field. Same with lil Nik.

Yep this is the dichotomy if great hardass coaches - it's not 24/7. On the field hardass. Off the field, the guy truly cares about his players and wants what's best for them. Also goes to bat for them.

That’s exactly right and this happens with every program that has a regime change. Gus apparently was a players coach. They talked about how he cried after a game with the team or something.

Harsin is more of a hard nosed hardass who wants to win and doesn’t want to deal with their personal problems.

Saban had a similar reaction when he got to Alabama. I think it was Simeon Castille maybe who was heard one night saying he didn’t give a frick about Nick Saban? A few guys left the team. Everyone knew they were being run off because they couldn’t handle the change from Charmin soft Mike Shula to Coal Miner Saban.

Only difference is that we didn’t have Instagram or Tik Tok to go live with disgruntled, former, soon-to-be washed up players spouting off about their feelings. Which is apparently what they think an SEC football program is for.

Derek Mason obviously didn't like what he was seeing, hence his departure.

Derek Mason also put a fricking woman on the field for virtue points.

I don't put much stock in Derek Mason's "feelings".

If Mason is only a mediocre football coach I’d love to know what Harsin is.

Regardless of what you feel, he left for a reason.

Look at the staff turnover in literally 12 months under Harsin. So you're telling me that it's just everyone else who's crazy, right? He literally just interviewed and hired a coach who within 2 weeks proved to be completely unfit to do the job. What kind of vetting process was Harsin doing? Just bad luck, right? The stuff about Austin Davis is starting to come out (I don't know what it is) but apparently it's bad - he would have been fired for cause by Auburn had he not stepped down.

His approach is completely obtuse. It's an absolute joke to compare him to Pat Dye or these other "demanding" coaches. Did you have a father growing up? There is a massive difference between an abuser, and someone who pushes you hard while also being there for you. MASSIVE.

If they think he’s a shite person then you already lost half the battle.
Do you wanna be known as a great worker, shite person?

He was 6-7 and can’t recruit for shite. His recruiting ESD was thanks to Mason and Trovon.

Only a BLZR (dumbass) would compare records between coaches at vandy and Boise.

It was Zack Etheridge. Best recruiter on the staff and he almost left Auburn. He was getting other P5 offers; had to be promoted and he ultimately just loves Auburn. But it's not a good look for Harsin tha his best recruiter who literally saved this class from disaster, an Auburn grad and former player, was even considering other offers.

And thanks to our former players our recruits now know our HC is a “shite person.”

Good job Harsin

First of all, yes I had a father. 2nd, I never compared him to Pat Dye.

But if he is so "abusive" why did someone like Chandler Wooten defend him. Remember, this is the same kid who was all in on the BLM stuff in 2020 and took the year off for covid. He is definitely an outspoken guy and isn't gonna let what he feels get in the way of what he says.

Then we can look at TD Moultry who also came out in defense of Harsin (sort of). He had NCAA issues in the middle of the season and could have easily been left by the wayside. But he did what he needed (with Harsin's support) and got back with the team and had a career year. All this after supposed players coach Gus (and all of us fans) had basically written him off.

So why does their opinion of Harsin not carry the same weight as McClain and Smoke (guys who aren't even here any longer)?

I don’t know what’s really going on. But the more I’ve read from players the more it seems like Harsin is just a tough, football first coach and some guys just aren’t into it.

Yep, which honestly I expected with the complete 180 in people that him and Gus are.

Now, whether or not the other crap is true or not, yet to be seen. I think the mistreating players is a bunch of crap mostly.
