WR recruiting over the years

This isn't strictly focused on 2019, but in general over the past 10+ years.
Is it me or is our WR recruiting pretty meh-to-bad compared to the better teams we go up against?
Seems like LSU & Bama are head and shoulders above us as far as having 2-3 receivers on their roster at any given time that would be our best receiver if on ours. Not just 2019.
We usually have at most one good to great receiver, but usually not as well rounded as those teams top 2-3. Then we have a bunch of role-playing receivers to compliment the 1 pro prospect.
Our other issues (OL, QB, no marquee RB) are well-documented, but with the game changing in large part due to the rules changing to favor QB's and receivers, how many of our missed opportunities over the years could be chalked up to lackluster WR/TE rosters?

I’d have to go look but I think, from a pure recruiting standpoint, Auburn can’t be too far behind. Between D Craig and Kodi, we’ve signed an incredible amount of talent at that position. Development hasn’t been there

Chase, Ruggs, and the rest of the "top" WRs in our league would look pretty pedestrian in our offense.
JaMarr chase had 30 more receptions than our best WR. With
Justin Jefferson had more catches than Sal, Hastings, Eli Stove, and Jay Jay Wilson combined.
LSU's TE had more catches and TDs than Schwartz.
Point I'm making is I don't think our players are bad they just aren't put in the position to become stars. Stove and Seth Williams would be NASTY in Bama or LSU's offense.

We would have Kyle Davis, Nate Myers Craig, and Eli Stove for their senior year this past year. Add to that Matthew Hill, Schwartz, Seth Williams.
Our recruiting is fine, our retention is terrible.

We were also in on Jamar Chase as well, it came down to Auburn and LSU in the end

Yeah but it wouldn't have mattered, we wouldn't have got him the ball enough. They have to really tweak that passing game in order to have WRs flourish in this system. I lost confidence after this Minnesota loss. I don't know what the frick Gus is going to do next year.

to be honest I think Kodi has to go, he is the weakest link on the staff in my opinion. With him and gus constantly getting into it on the sidelines I think he isn't a good fit.

At our current offensive structure / production level, no WRs will thrive. It reminds me of LSU with Beckham and Landry. We had a legitimate QB in Stidham and he had only 18 TD passes in consecutive seasons.
I don't believe in Gus or Chad, but my hope is that we air it out next year. If Bo Nix were to have a 4000 yard / 30 TD season, it would do wonders for our offensive recruiting.

Talent level is good
Development and passing scheme is where the problem is.
Kodi will always be our example of class but I don’t believe he can make our WR’s elite.
Brady came into LSU and not only infused steroids into the passing game, but he implemented drills and technique for the WR’s, and we all know how that turned out.

It has more to do with the system than the players. Just look at what Darius Slayton has done in the NFL this year compare to college. He had almost half of his total career yards at Auburn in one season in the NFL.

Stars wise our recruiting seems to be pretty good, not elite level like Bama and LSU but plenty good. Our problem is our scheme and QB play has been terrible and WR coaching questionable.
Remember when we signed Kyle Davis and Nate Craig

Our receivers are as good as they are going to be the day they step on campus. That is our issue.

Our WR don't have much chance in our simplistic offense. We spent 3/4's of the bowl practices working on a fake punt and used the rest to rep our other 4 routes.

And if you had to pick 4 routes to make life most difficult on a college QB, those would be the 4 routes.

Most of our WR development or lack there of has to do with our Online & QB play.
Stidham was phenomenal when he climbed the pocket like he was supposed to. I've never seen Bo climb the pocket.
The OLine has never been balanced. One year they can only run block. One year they can only pass block somewhat. They can never do both, not since 2010.
