Well they beat us and now they actually are better than us. Because their staff is elevating the team. Ours isn't

Yes, their coach > our coach. There is no denying that.

what in the world makes you think Nix will look great against other top tier / better competition? And it's not just Nix. It's mainly Gus

They haven’t been better than us for 4 years. That’s the point. Our coach cost us the game. Again.
Gus is an overpaid, snake-oil salesman.
He got lucky with a couple of assistants, but for the most part, this staff would have a hard time getting hired at another top tier school. No good, in demand coach would work for Gus. Steele and Garner are working on their state retirement. Everybody else wouldn't sniff a good job, except, maybe TWill.

It's inexcusable that AU hasn't beaten LSU at Tiger stadium in 20 fricking years.
Some of that is on Gus. You can't afford to lose the 2017 game when our team was significantly better than their team because when you play them in 2018 and 2019 they might be considerably better than you.

Do you fire somebody who
1. Never learns from their many mistakes?
2. Loses the same games every year the same way?
3. Has a pretty disturbing trend of recruiting highly ranked QBs only for them to regress under his tutelage?
4. Consistently fails to deliver a competent product in the aspect of the game that is supposed to be his strength?
What more do you need to see? With even somewhat below average offense we would be undefeated, yet our train wreck has us staring at 8-4.... again.

If that was the case then we certainly need to fire Gus cause Nix is fricking terrible.
I just think the expectations dropped once we saw Nix was going to play like a TF. Gus can say “look guys we are playing a TF and he is learning.”

Why wouldn't you fire Gus?

Ok, I'll play.
How do you sign a highly recruited, extreme specimen of athlete like Gatewood, have in the program for a full year, then start a TF who has been pretty bad most of the season?

Amen.
It's criminal that Gatewood came in for one play and got 4 yards then never saw the field again

Ole boy network
Until you hire a "Saban like" coach that kicks out the Dye people we'll never progress.

I’m not defending Gus. I’m just as much as a Joey fan as anybody not named jville.

Now I wanted Gatewood and still thinks he is a better fit for Gus but. Id like to know why you think Gus started Nix over Gatewood if what you are saying is the case. Why didnt Gus start Gatewood at the beginning of the season?

Because Gatewood's last name is not Nix. Whoever plays QB next year I think we can all agree 8 wins is the ceiling with no oline or dline. So back to my point do we make a change now or wait another year of doom and gloom in the name of saving some money. The end result is the same.

On a lighter note, can’t believe this is working:

Because Gus is a shitty coach. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, and say he thought Nix looked better in practice, but we have all seen him live in games. I doubt there is any reputable coach that wouldn't have pull Nix in the FLA game. Tonight was just slightly better, just less picks and more overthrows and panicking.
Gus is not a good, or average P5 coach. The games he wins is due to talent, not his coaching. No way I would let my son play for that buffoon!

Gus will always prefer to be right (or what he deems as right) than win. It would be refreshing to have a HC who puts Auburn first before their pride.

This one is squarely on Gus and no one else.
Our offensive line is as fricked up as a football bat. With basically HS players at Center and guard, not much in the way of rhythm is possible. Nix had his problems, and the play calling sucked at times, but with no decent offensive line, we are hard fricked.
