Y'all are forgetting about the wild card here, the tight end.

I must say that I am one of the few people here that could give a shite if we use a tight end or not. I dont understand why everyone is so infatuated with using one. Very few teams in todays offenses use a tight end other than a blocker

And that is the position I played in high school

I think the attraction to using a TE as a target is that, in our offense particularly, they are almost always uncovered by the opposing defense.

Having a TE who can block but also can catch could definitely be a weapon, even if he isn't targeted more than 2-3 times a game - in fact Gustav has used the TE in such a fashion in the past with great success:

Just curious - how often did they throw you the ball?

11 times in 3 years. Caught 7, dropped 1. 3 were uncatchable.
I actually had three of those in one game.

Coach told me when I started. "Son you are just another lineman with a higher number".

I’m not as obsessed with the idea as some, but that has been our most efficient position in the red zone the few times we’ve used it. I don’t want it to become a huge focus, but it just seems like when we throw to the TE in the red zone we score TDS.

At least you got some glory, I played center in high school and the only recognition a o-lineman ever gets is if he misses a block.

Seth Williams is a Red Zone God.

Schwartz will be the best deep threat we've ever had, we should really study how the Chiefs use Tyreek Hill and emulate it for Anthony. Home Run threat whenever he touches the ball.

Boobie, DJ, Joiner and Shivers are perfect compliments to each other.

Sal, Eli and Hastings will be solid.

I look for Matthew Hill to step up big this season.

Good call.

I’m kinda worried Hastings won’t be able to do Hastings things again. Seemed like he recovered really early to only keep being held back.

That was our first indication that NM had the potential to be something special. Clutch throw in a do-or-die situation in only his 3rd game as our QB.

If whomever is our starter this year can make plays like that (and our OL give him time to do so) we have potential to make a lot of noise.

However, since the debacle that was the Jeremy Johnson Era, I will remain cautiously pessimistic.

Love that play but was it really a "Tight end play"? Didnt fool anyone. The offense was just better than the defense on that play. Not the same as the 2010 Lutz Iron bowl play

We actually executed this play on another team, I believe it was State.
