Seth Williams will certainly be a play maker but who else? We need a few big play makers. Losing Ryan Davis this spring, KJ two years ago. We are going to need a few go to guys.

Im not ready to put that on a freshman QB who honestly, has not been able to show anything throwing the ball. Its going to have to be a running back or wide out other than Seth.

As much as I love Shivers, I dont see him being counted on a ton. Kid has some heart and is fast as hell but his size is limiting. Id love for him to be the guy but I need to see that first.

Boobie. I dont see him as a "spectacular" guy. I see him more of a solid serviceable back kinda like CAP. Less like Tre Mason. I hope I am wrong about him as well but he has not shown that consistently enough yet.

Could it be a new player for us this year? No matter who is calling the plays, our offense was pathetic at times last year. No big plays, no consistency. How is that going to change this year? Im worried about high level offensive talent.

Man I hope thats the case. He is an awkward runner out there. So fast but doesnt ever seem to get in the open field. If he ever does, no one will catch him obviously.

I dont think people know how much losing Slayton is going to hurt. He was our deep threat.

Shivers and Schwartz are a couple studs that will have space finding roles.

DJ will end up being a stud, so I hope we start working him in early.
Can’t forget about Kam Martin. Veteran presence hanging around reminds of Fannin in 2010.

As for WR, our depth is fairly average.
I think Schwartz, Eli, Hastings, and Williams are capable receivers. Matthew Hill, Farrar, and McClain need to step up for Gatewood though.

Harold Joiner is a wild card because the staff doesn’t know where to put him. I’m thinking he can end up being a nice weapon for us...somewhere.

Because I think we are going to run more than last year (and hopefully faster), and because Gatewood’s escape ability will help the receivers, all in all, in the year of our Lord 2019,15-0 ship!

I cant explain it but I have zero confidence in him. He is that player that we all want to be outstanding that never seems to be.

Eli Stove was my pick when I thought about this topic yesterday. If he is 100% healed and confident his knee is solid, he can be a stud. Hastings can be a much needed deep threat for us if he can stay healthy as well. Run Hastings and Schwartz on crossing patterns. Nobody can keep up. LOL

The few plays that Joiner has run have been very good. Maybe his size is keeping him from playing more?

Can't be stated enough. There will be a lot more wide open receivers due to defenses fearing Gatewood's legs.

If Gatewood can sling it then Seth Williams will be the man. Seth is a freak at WR, he's so good that he broke Nate Craig-Myers and made his arse quit.

Alot of people on here Assuming JG wins the QB job. I don't think this is anything close to being a given. Bo is a baller and will fight for it. I do think Joey wins but it isnt set in stone. Ultimately- I think Swartz/Williams/Shivers and DJ Williams are the guys that are the most productive for us this year minus whichever guy starts at QB and regardless of

So you are included in your first quote, because almost everyone is thinking along the same line as you.

I was trying to hold off until August to start getting pumped up....but all this talk about these lightning quick receivers is really making me moist.

Gatewood’s 3 snaps in garbage time of a historic blowout really has people swooning around here

Don’t get me wrong, I hope he’s good too. Just haven’t seen enough to be convinced.

Anyhow, a rookie QB’s best friend is the RB. Boobie can take a lot of pressure off if he’s healthy.

I am actually not that impressed with him. His first pass was bad. Real bad.

Im thinking he wins the job based on his size and experience. No doubt Nix is going to fight him for it. Who ever deserves it, I will be behind them.

This would be a great time to have a very talented back. Like you said, its a new QB's best friend. They should not start their career thinking they are going to have to run for yards every other play.

Maybe I'm forgetting someone, but I'm a little surprised that Gus hasn't been able to really make one of these utility/all purpose guys into a star. It just seems like given his philosophy they could find a ton of value in the offense and we've certainly had plenty of prospects, it seems like.

I’ve been trying to hype him for a couple years but people remained skeptical even past the bowl game with no clear starter next year.
Deshaun s Davis’s interview where he spoke about Gatewood, spring practice player interviews, and the spring game have really attached some credibility to the hopeful hype that I’ve had for so long.

Gus made Charles Clay a star and promised similar packages to Joiner.
