This is how I see the starting lineup.

DE Hall
DT Truesdell
DT Fair
Buck Wooden

ILB Pappoe
ILB McClain
OLB Wooten

CB Simpson
CB McCreary

S Smoke
S Kauffman

NB Tennison/Pritchett

It looks like a pretty solid group for Coach Mason. If the grad transfers we have coming in for depth work out i think 4th or 5th in the SEC isn't unreasonable to expect.

We'll be in a base 3-4, not a 4-3 so your lineup and positions aren't correct.

I think we'll struggle a little bit the first few games. The two-gap is very different than a one-gap defense as far as responsibilities on the first and second level. The same thining happened when Aranda implemented the 3-4 at LSU but then they really improved.

DE Wooden/Johnson/Brooks
NT truesdell/Fair/Hunter
DT Burkes/Butler/Pegues

Edge Hall/Leota/ Height

ILB McClain/Steiner
ILB Pappoe/Willis
OLB Wooten/Moultry
OLB Tisdol/Riley

FS Smoke/Kaufman
SS knighten/Puckett

CB McCreary/Simpson
CB Miller/Simpson

NB Tennison/Pritchett

A lot will have to play out and could see massive swings in 1-3’s. Z.Walker could easy be a DE/DT in the 2 deep. Same for a lot of guys on the back end. Competition and new assignments will be great for this group. Just a guess but this is about how I think it will start out in fall practice

Alpine yes a lot will depend on how our NT and DTs play their assignments. If they are able to hold their point of attack and if they are able to get inside push on passing downs watch out. If not you’ll probably see this defense dominate bad offenses and struggle to get off the field against good ones. It literally could go either way in my opinion. How quickly guys pick up the scheme, how much stronger some get, how well they tackle. We know we can depend on Truesdell at least to fill his role, Wooden to give great effort, Zacoby to shine, Owen to play fast, and McCreary to probably be our best defender. Outside of that it’s all questionable.

Points per game I would rank them somewhere between 3-6 in the conference. All other stats are basically meaningless in the grand scheme.

I would say UGa 1, Bama 2, aTm 3, AU 4, UK 5, LSU 6 if pressed for a specific

The Kansas DE is Marcus Harris. I expect him to contribute just not sure when he arrives on campus to really get in the playbook

corch from the chat i have read what hurt our d in the past was they were conditioned for the hunh so they would be fresher longer in games. now i am hearing with the new weight program that the lines on both sides of the ball have improved. but that was another thing i was disappointed in concerning gus. i loved gus but when he let gatewood go i fell off the gus bus and i really liked gus.

Alpinetiger,

We will be in SLC towards the end of the month. Just long enough to go to Log Haven, Penny Anne's, and a Bee's game. There's a dude on the Travel Board looking for Utah advice on moving out there. Figured you might be able to help him out and help explain the Mormon thing.

Not worried about the defense. Really concerned about the offense. The OL looked better than I thought last year.

Nice, and I saw that post and responded. I usually play up the "don't move here because Mormons" angle but he seemed to be set on relocation. It amazes me that people get so twisted about Mormons, and there are people who responded that way in that post. Maybe a little self-reflection for those people is in order and you're the a-hole, and not the Mormon boogieman? Sheesh. I've honestly had perhaps 10 bad experiences in over 20 years involving any religious stuff. But the perception keeps people from moving here, so great.

Agree on the offense. Tank has to stay healthy.

50 outside of our offense keeping the defense on the field all game when has our defense been bad in the last few years?

Last year we fell off a little but look what we lost up front.

NT- Fair, Truesdell -I think TF beats out Truesdell
DT- Burks, Peques- Burks the clear starter IMO
DE- Wooden and Harris 1A and 1B,

Edge- Hall, Leota - I think you had it right

ILB- McClain, Riley - I think Riley stays inside mostly
ILB- Pappoe, Steiner, Tisdol- Believe Tisdol is inside
OLB- Height, Willis, Moultry- I think all 3 play plenty

I think you goot the secondary pretty good.F

Walker will get a lot of playing time at DT, he was up to almost 290lbs last year and was coming on strong at the end of the season.
