Auburn will have about 20 percent capacity for home football games this fall

Under the direction of state health officials, Jordan-Hare Stadium capacity will be reduced to approximately 20% to begin the 2020 football season.
In an effort to contribute to the on-campus experience of our current students, all general seating tickets outside of controlled premium spaces and those designated for home and visiting team player and coach guests will be reserved for Auburn students for the home opener on Sept. 26 versus Kentucky. Ticket allocations for future games will be announced at a later date. As the season progresses, the seating plan and configuration may change as additional information related to COVID-19 becomes available.

Seems like a wise plan. Start out with students only and leave the door open for opening up seats if new info comes out, or allow season ticket holders to attend if the students don't show up well.

Glad the students get to go. They pay full tuition just to do classes mostly online and to get shamed for going to bars.

With 20% capacity, they should just let every home game be students only

I am also glad they are taking care of the students. They should be first priority.

Agree that students should get priority. Good call by the admin.

Will premium folks get to go to the game? Suite holders, Nelson Club?
Posted on 8/19/20 at 2:36 pm to allin2010
according to the Greene message, it does allow Premium ticket holders a chance to attend also.
Just not the TUF and general ticket holders, unless tickets open up bc Students don't go.

Yes

quote:Some will. The information says "all general seating tickets outside of controlled premium spaces." I guess that depends on the definition of controlled premium spaces.

I would bet skyboxes are controlled (because you have strict control over who comes in and out and the number of folks).
Broadway Club has controlled access, so that might be as well.
Not sure about Nelson Club.

Is there a force majeure clause in the ticket packet?

Maybe they will go out of business and we can get our spot back.

20% of capacity would be just under 17,500 folks.
In the past students have been given 14,500. So that leaves about 3,000 tickets for suite holders and other donors.

Given the situation, I like the solution, I really like that they're taking care of the kids for the first game. For the other four games, the options of opt-in, opt-out and donate what you paid, opt-out and apply to next year's purchase, or refund seem like reasonable approaches.
We're very likely going the refund route, not so much because we're worried about the 'rona...we just don't think it would be fun rambling around a stadium at 1/5th capacity while wearing a mask. NO telling if we'd even be high enough on ticket priority to get in, the great unknown being how many will opt-out.
Of course, this may all be rendered moot in the next few weeks.
