What makes everyone think Art Briles would be such a good hire. Football wise?

So much talk about Art Briles and how that would be such a great thing. What is it about him that makes people here want him?

His head coaching career is pretty meh, record wise. His bowl record is terrible at 3-6. He got Baylor good in the Big 12 once the conference pretty much fell apart. No competition when they were good and even when they were "good", they never accomplished anything. Hell, he didnt even win bowl games the years Baylor was good

Is all the talk purely based on big offensive numbers in the Big 12?

Talk me into why he would be a good "Football" hire. Forget about the "He is a POS" part of it

It's just message board chatter grasping at straws. We have talent on O, but we aren't talented on O. Key areas are extremely weak. O-tackle...Cam can't even Cam because Carolina suddenly looks old at that position. QB...White is serviceable, but isn't championship caliber in anybody's O. No tightend for short yardage passing. No big WR who can make catches in traffic (yet). RB's haven't shown a break away speed, but that probably is as much the Oline blocking than anything else.

I don't necessarily want him but I can see why some would.

He's a pioneer of the spread offense

He obviously has an eye for talent on offense

With the landscape of cfb changing coaches that can score are just as important as a good DC

I think most want him due to the frustrations on offense and lack of qb development

Look up the decade before briles landed at Houston and baylor.... what he accomplished in Waco is nothing short of a miracle IMO.

I like what he did with a terrible QB situation last year and how he plays all out O like what we hired Gus for in the beginning. Gus trusts him and would be a solid relationship that I think would be reciprocal. Add to that he is a respected QB coach it should draw talent and help develop what we have.

I get that bro but the Big 12 was not the Big 12 then. And he still didnt win anything. Just a couple of conference championships in a down conference.

Once he got our of conference against decent competition, it didnt work

Gus Malzahn says "No. You can sit on the bench while we play this back up kicker at WR. What he is from Arkansas as a walk-on? Oh he is starting."

Then Kyle says, "Coach Petrino or Coach Kiffin would throw deep to me 3 times each half. You are lucky the banks got hit hard or Big Bobby Lowder would have you and your sweater vest out of here real quick."
