Exactly! I don’t think many have an appreciation of how hard it is to compete at Mizzou. As far as I am concerned if we can’t get Kiffin, we have to try for Dillingham or Drink. If all three are off the table then you might consider Sumrall. The only lock for consistent 10 win seasons is Kiffin. Dilly and Drink are near locks with the upgrade in resources and would be absolutely competitive (50/50) every year with the big boys. Sumrall is a slightly above average crap shoot. IMO, he does have one massive advantage though. If he hits he is probably AU for life, like Pat Dye.

Steve Sarkisian's apparently amazing record as a HC:

5-7
7-6
7-6
7-6
8-4
9-4
3-2
5-7
8-5
12-2
13-3
7-3

Guys - if you took away his name and pretended that this is coach "Joe Schmoe", there wouldn't be a single person here excited about that resume.

The guy legit has only 2 seasons of double-digit wins out of 12 total seasons as a HC
How about this coach?:

10-4
11-2
11-2
10-3
14-1
14-1
12-2
15-0
14-1
10-2
10-3
11-3
9-4
10-4

You worried about old piss stealing a coach from Auburn, baw? Never thought I’d live to see the day. What a time to be alive!

Florida knows what they are doing and will take Brohm. We have to be insecure about Temu Harsin now.

There would be no statement if he was leaving. You don't build up an announcement about him leaving.

It will be, which is why they put out the statement to build the anticipation. Ole Miss fans are going to slobber all over him when he tells them he's coming back.

I think some team, probably Ole Miss, is going to be stuck with an albatross around its neck when they sign Kiffin to a $15m per year long-term deal and he returns to his historical mean of losing 3-5 games a year after gets bored due to his immaturity or the overall coaching in the conference improves. He’s also not going to keep living off weak schedules in perpetuity.

I am team Sumrall/Durkin all the way. Wife went to Auburn, maintain our talent with Durkin. We will beat Bama and win our bowl game.

I don't want Drink (DORK) , Do not want friends of Gus, nothing from his coaching tree, nobody who coached at Arkie State for Christ sake. Dilly is OK, but not wow. Time to move on. Both maybe great coaches, but lets try something different.

How do you know that Sumrall would keep Durkin or that Durkin would stay if Sumrall was hired?

Yeah, they have been tearing it up in coaching hires unlike Auburn.

And no, I have no clue who the right hire is. Not even going to speculate anymore.

They have won National Championships in basketball and baseball in the last couple years. They're okay.

But you'll run that cocksucker about the team with the better hire and AD

But I think more likely we didn't anticipate being able to compete with the bigger openings and had already been denied at the alter once.

Not directed at you but this whole inferiority complex in general.

Where has everyone gotten this beta idea from? Barstool? Finebaum? Ive NEVER heard a single coach mention 1 thing FL and LSU offers that Auburn cannot. Recruiting against Bama? If that scares a coach of he sucks anyways. We've been doing fine Recruiting while getting pounded in the dirt every SEC game the past 5 years. A good coach would start winning and pick who he wants to bring in. We are in PRIME location to pick from alot of the best talent in the country from our back yard.

There is NOTHING Lsu or Florida can offer that Freeze didnt have to win freaking games! If Cohen and the donors think like this we've done lost the next 3 seasons anyways.

If I EVER feel Auburn is inferior to another school, I'll never watch another game. I may be biased but Ill NEVER believe Auburn can't compete no matter if its a title game or hiring ball boys. WDE

I agree on that, but I dont want a Kiffin type team this go around. Kirby still plays D and a more pro set, and they are just consistent. Offensive minded coaches are so up and down.

The only acceptable name is Buster Faulkner.

Yep. If Mike is serious and really heard "ACC OC" then Faulkner is the only acceptable name. Not only acceptable, but a home run if he would actually leave GT for a semi-lateral OC position.

I just have a hard time believing "all the coaching candidates have agreed to Cohen's assistant demands." I don't think that's how these coaching searches work. Cohen would really be shooting himself in the foot with those demands.

This is some super derpy typical auburn fan fiction. Forcing sumrall to keep a defensive coordinator that he was hired over is so fricking stupid on so many levels. It baffles me that people think this is even an option. You want your head coach to have autonomy to do his job. Otherwise why hire him?!?

Because it would cost another 5-7M to fire him. Another 5-7 to get a new DC. If there isnt any issues, why cost your program and additional 10M to hire a new guy? No other business let's a manager come in and fire/replace entire departments immediately.

Exactly.. I’m going to hire you to be HC but your potential replacement is on the sideline with you and waiting on you to frick up. Great idea!
