We will never make a statue of a coach again. Let's win 10 games in back to back season for the 1st time ever before we start commissioning a fricking sculpture

Brohm has spent 9 years proving he is a coach that will lose at least 4 games a year. He is mid. Hiring him would say, “meh, this will do.” Sumrall has an unlimited ceiling. Also an unknown floor. At least hiring Sumrall sends a message that we’re trying, not just settling.

Dillingham would be an unmitigated home run. While there are no guarantees, he has the best track record.

It was a way of saying Sumrall has a higher ceiling. Don’t be so obtuse

We are in agreement. We need to go get Dillingham. But we won't, someone else will, and we will watch someone else have the success we should be.

Realistically he only has a higher chance of having a statue because he brings a level of mystique. A newness that has yet to be unraveled. Once we figure out he manages his staff and his players at Auburn it will be eye opening where the program is headed in either direction.

You know who else did that before going to a better program? Nicholas Saban. Brohm has been at 2 places that are on Vandy’s level and still has beaten multiple top 10 teams. Brohm with Auburn’s WR core and good QB play is in the playoffs next season, 100% guaranteed.

Keith Neibuhr shared to his followers that a former Auburn assistant believes it's only down to Sumrall and Durkin and the longer we wait with Sumrall the greater likelihood of losing him.

It's already done the UF cancellation was just further proof. Just not leaking it out of respect for Durkin and the IB>

No, nobody is a guarantee. If there was a coach who was a guarantee, this would be an easy decision. It’s not.

Know who else at one point had never coached a P4 level game? Saban. Just like Sumrall.

It’s funny the knock on Sumrall is “he’s never coached at the P4 level” (which is undeniably true) and in the same breath some praise Brohm, who has coached at the P4 level for 9 years and has lost at least 4 games each season (also undeniably true).

There are no guarantees, my man. We’re all trying to make a decision based on best available information and an educated guess. Sumrall has an unknown ceiling and an unknown floor. Brohm has spent a decade proving he can win, but not win big. There’s no debating either of those facts, just opinions on which is the better bet.

Personally, I consider Sumrall the “let’s go for it” hire and Brohm the “meh, this will do” candidate. I understand others disagree.

A couple of the Ole Miss poster's think Sumrall is theirs for the taking if Lane leaves...

Is the world upside down? I get they have a far superior coach than us right now, but on what planet would Ole Miss be a better job than AU?

Even with Kiffin, they do not pull in anywhere near the talent we have, right?

It has been almost ten years since we were in the SECG, but compare the to Ole Miss, and I just don't see it.

That’s true, but some are definitely closer than others to a guarantee. I don’t have a problem with hiring Sumrall. But if you can get Brohm, Dilly, or Riley, you definitely take them before Sumrall.

Nobody wins big at Purdue or Louisville. But he’s done something at those programs that Auburn hasn’t done in a long time, beat top 10 teams and had competent QB and offensive play.

I agree with Dillingham and Riley. In fact, I’d make Dillingham say no about 5 times before moving on to anyone else. I can’t agree with your views on Brohm, but that just my opinion.

That is what bothers me the most about ending up with Summral. We will never know if Cohen even truly went hard after Kiffin, Dilly, Lanning, Freeman, etc. If he did then so be it...

Brohm - Purdue, Louisville, 12-2 at Western Kentucky - the same as Sumrall

Sumrall won 5 or 6 more games a year than Chip Lindsay at Troy.
Who'd he beat to rack up those additional wins? You can't tell jack crap here.

Let Sumrall go prove himself somewhere.

At this particular moment in time, perhaps to get a huge lift, Auburn needs offensive competency and QB play. Brohm played QB in the NFL under great minds, and he is also tough and hard nosed, having played under Howard Schellenberger.

It would be ridiculous to pass this up.

I can't get excited for another one that we hope works out, feels like we went that cheap route again. Napier 2.0 will set us back another 5 years. Thanksgiving 2028 we will be here again looking for a new coach and AD

Me too. Unless he refuses to leave (which is possible) or wouldnt listen to an offer from us then Cohen needs to go if the new hire isnt a legend. I cant imagine how anyone could deny that he is likely the best coach that Auburn can realistically hire. More money up front but less likely to have to pay a buyout.

Could be just that he's my favorite that is discussed
