As far as OC, you could go after Bobby P, which is gonna be a not for most. After that I think if you like, that system you go,after the OC at Purdue. Longo is at Sam Houston St, and Garett Riley might want to get out of clemson before Dabo gets canned,

Out of that group, I'd take Dilly, Key, and Sumrall in that order.
Dilly has been here and knows the expectations. The Nix family clearly likes him, and that will go a ways in Alabama HS coaching ranks and recruiting circles. As an offensive guy, he might keep the existing D staff.
Key, I'm just going on his ability to transform GT from doormat to contender.
Sumrall has inherited good programs, but he also hasn't messed them up. That is sort of where we are - plenty of talent, just lacking leadership at HC and O side of the ball. A lot of LSU people would be happy with him coming there, which says a lot to me.

Love the idea but who would you suggest as OC in this situation?
Im not the one to answer, but I'd much prefer firing an OC than another HC.
We actually have a lot of good pieces now. A really good DC that players, on both sides, like and a lot of young talent on offense. It cant be that hard to find an OC that's better than a stubborn HC that insists that he's next to God.

Yea he blew up everything good blakeney and brown had done. I’m a big Sumrall guy just because of seeing what he did. Also in his first year at Troy we lost to app state when it was college gameday on an absolutely crazy Hail Mary if anyone remembers. Then turned around and ran the table. To me that is the kind of loss that is a back breaker for a lot of teams and completely derails the season and he was able to get everyone back on the saddle and keep going.
Also haven’t done as much research but from what I have read when he got to Tulane the roster has been decimated by the portal so I know the team had been good but he kinda had to rebuild it too.

Kelly would likely retain Durk,
Only way I would like the Kelly hire plus a high paid OC

he hasn’t proven it at a P4 school even as a coordinator and has inherited good programs at both his stops.

Sorry that looks like he took a Sub .500 team the next year to a double digit win. (Chip had good QB play with his QB going over 3k & 15 ints). I would say he did a quick turnaround similar to what happened at IU under Cignetti
Take a look Here for the Willie Fritz era at Tulane last two years were great
Here is Sumrall's time so far at Tulane
I am not saying Sumrall is or should be the guy but to say he got great teams handed to him isn't accurate. Maybe better at Tulane but many transferred to Houston with Fritz. This year his QB is starting at Duke.(Mensah) so yeah...He has done a good job for what he has.

Dilly and Key would be a "splash" hire. Sumrall and Durk would be a "aight, let's see how this works. CK would be a laugh at us type hire. Although, I honestly think CK would be a decent football coach type of hire.

More than likely no less than 5 million per year with a guaranteed buyout. Any less will be an embarrassment to the school.
I didn't throw out a number but throwing stupid money at Hope would be much more stupid and much more embarrassing. Signing stupid contracts because others did is stupid.

If that's the list, then hopefully it'll be Brent Key or Jon Sumrall.

No chance he sticks if he gets passed over

There's not another P5 school that would even interview Charles Kelly
Sumrall or Dilly (And your QB) please spare us.

Even Freeze made that much in his entry level contract.
It's just business stupid

A 20-15 coach in a really bad conference is splash hire? Dude’s had one really bad year and one really good year. Just doesn’t seem like that great of a hire to me.

I still never threw out a number so I really don't know what your point is. What i did say is that we could try to get DJ on a short contract with a lot of incentives.

You obviously don't know business at all. Maybe Troy didn't teach it, stupid.

Okay guys I will admit when I am wrong.
I forgot about chip lindsey stopping at Troy after Neal brown. And I didn’t consider the portal leaving Tulane decimated after Fritz left, I just knew he left with them on a high note.
My worry with Sumrall is that we end up with Sunbelt Billy 2.0 but I suppose there is really no way to know without actually hiring the guy

Well in the real world that doesn't happen.
Even little Stevie got a five year contract and he didnt have a lick of experience or proven expertise. And Freeze was on a 6 year contract.

More a splash as we took ASU's coach and he is somewhat viewed as an up and comer.
