Apparently you think the way the Auburn athletic department works is normal.
It is. Hell, the La. Governor got their HC and AD fired. saban had the gravitas to tell bama's boosters to shove it. It doesn't work like that at the vast majority of places. Let DeBacle struggle/miss the playoffs for 4 out of 5 years and see what happens. Boosters control football programs. It's their money/their rules. Auburn pays our HC the exact same as every other University........$500K. the rest is from ad/booster money.

Don't tease
I thought they reported him to Arkansas

It doesn’t really matter who is making the decisions they have been bad at it

The guy reporting Golesh to Arky is a UMass fan in NY so not exactly reliable.

Dude: LSU botched the Kelly firing, their idiot Governor got involved, they tried to weasel out of paying Kelly his buyout and yet they STILL big-dicked everyone and are going to get their guy. They even shoved Florida into a locker to do it.
You see, competent programs get shite done. None of the negative press or clear missteps prevented LSU from getting Kiffin.
But at Auburn we like to pretend that one booster sneezing at the wrong time is the reason why we continuously fail to operate a successful coaching search. We receive the results we receive because this is a Mickey Mouse organization with nobody in the room who has the balls to do what it takes to get the results that they all CLAIM that they want.

Yeah this is what is maddening. They also swung for the fences to get Kelly and made it happen. Don’t understand how we are so incompetent and incapable. We do the same song and dance every time and expect different results.

Auburn admin hasnt cared about winning ever.
They replaced tubberville with Chizik and caught lighting in a bottle.
Then they hired a Auburn OC. Auburn is either going to hire a shitty coach or a coordinator. That's what they've shown as a preference for my entire lifetime. If we win, hey that's good, but it's not a priority.

we are behind the 8 ball. State Universities have a one up on us. It is what it is. La. is a talent rich state and they don't lose the top recruits often.

because we aren't willing to pay. That's all it is. We offered Sumrall $6, Ole Miss offered him $8 and UF $10. We offered Kiffin last time and OM countered. Sexton came back to AU and we hired Freeze without a counter offer.

that doesn't have a damn thing to do with boosters being involved with who is hired and fired.

I still don't understand how Bama managed to convince Little Bahr and their boosters to give Saban full control.
Because Bama was beyond desperate but unlike our program they refused to accept being a doormat as the new normal. Mal put his neck on the line to hire Saban and Saban made it very clear at his presser that he was in charge of the program. Have you ever seen a HC let his nuts hang and publicly tell booster their help was not wanted the way Saban did? He chopped them off at the knees on day one and they couldn't do a god damn thing about it because he rolled into town like a king with crazy arse fans kissing him at the airport.

Why do our boosters so consistently want coaches that not other boosters want

Silverfield to Arky. Maybe we snagged Golesh. please be true.

Meh. I don't mind him. Kinda rooting for him now just for the meltdown. He's more proven than any of the G5 coaches we're looking at with his national recruiter of the year award and top 10 defenses at Florida and Michigan. No guarantees with anything but I'm not emotionally invested in any of the others so bring it. Hate away

it has been said for decades..........."good old boy network". For some reason our boosters like people with ties to the University. I don't get it.

Someone mentioned it last night but it really does seem like the decision makers have whole heartedly bought into the “ we’re so close” statement that our biggest concern during all of this is roster turnover.
We are letting a group of kids who most have never played in a meaningful game hold our coaching search hostage because of threats of leaving.
Grown arse men making emotionally driven decisions over and over again.
